To help address recent bot activity, we've implemented a temporary limit on how quickly a single account can join chat rooms.
Most users should never notice this change during normal use. However, if you rapidly move between a large number of rooms in a short period of time, you may encounter a temporary restriction before being able to join another room.
If this happens, simply wait a few minutes before attempting to join additional rooms. You do not need to leave your current chats or relog.
We'll continue monitoring the situation and making adjustments as needed. Thank you for your patience as we work to protect the platform and improve the experience for everyone.

What was done to you is sometimes called astroturfing.
Astroturfing is the act of generating hype and artificially inflating popularity of something or someone. This is often used to promote something or someone for some intended purpose. In the past it was often practiced in highly regulated countries where most of the population was or still is highly authoritarian and a cultural homogeneous ethnicity. Now it's also being practiced in nations that are considered to be liberated and multicultural.
Modern examples of astroturfing can often be found in the world of: advertising, influencers and popstars. Especially if the advertising, influencers and popstars promote consumerism or movements that are approved by the legacy media, groups with corporate globalizing interests and also by political regimes. Often the purpose of that form of astroturfing is to guide or control society; a way to heard the sheep.

Thank you for your efforts in reducing bot activity. I've noticed a reduced amount of bot spam in my feed comments. I've spoken to one in my dms before and they explained they shared that account and were actually PAID to engage... this baffled me because I never hired them, n'or do I understand why someone would pay them to engage in MY feed comments. I found it insane because they'd do it seconds after I posted, no matter what time of day or night it was. It looked like to me they were hired by imvu staff to make their feed feature more active, but then I see an announcement like this where it looks like they're completely against bots... so I don't know if someone was trying to be generous with me and thought giving my feed posts more engagement would somehow be seen as something good? All I know is that even after I told them to stop, they did not! and I got really tired of blocking them all that I just gave up. So the changes you guys are doing is noticed and appreciated by me, thank you!
