We want to share an update regarding music services used in IMVU Classic rooms.
IMVU currently partners with Vervelife, a third party music licensing and distribution provider that supplies the music catalog used in IMVU Classic. Vervelife manages licensing with music rights holders and handles the vendor payments and legal compliance required to make this music available on the platform.
Vervelife has made the decision to discontinue support for the music services they provide. Because this service, including its licensing, infrastructure, and continued operation, is entirely owned and managed by Vervelife, this change is outside of IMVU’s control, and we do not have the ability to maintain or extend it.
We know music plays an important role in many IMVU rooms and experiences, and we understand this news may be disappointing. Our team is actively exploring alternative music solutions that could be compatible with IMVU Classic’s legacy technology.
In the meantime: • Music purchases through the Vervelife system have already been disabled. • Radio streaming remains supported on other platforms, including IMVU Web, Desktop, and Mobile. • Existing Flash radio streaming products are not expected to be affected.
We understand many of you have invested in music for your rooms, and we’re taking steps to support impacted users during this transition. We will be accommodating refunds for recent music streaming purchases where applicable. Eligible users will be contacted directly in the coming weeks with more information.
We will continue to share updates as we learn more about the timeline for this transition and evaluate possible solutions.
Thank you for your understanding and for continuing to make IMVU a place full of creativity, expression, and great music.

You write: As I'm sure IMVU is working its best to responsively find ways to offer us a way to recover access to nowoday's huge catalogs of musics, we all need to understand that we didn't buy musics and songs but accesses to those songs.
Yes, that's correct - at least the last part of this sentence. But I don't agree with the first part. No, I'm pretty sure that IMVU is NOT working on a solution to this. IMVU is simply ignoring and trying to ride out this issue. As I wrote before in this thread: Its not the first time that they have lost the rights for playing these songs from a certain provider. It happened before and the thing is:
They’ve actually known for the past two years that they would lose the rights, yet they didn’t inform any of the users here. Quite the opposite: They happily continued to cash in on us, knowing full well that these rights are limited.
So... they lost their first class-action lawsuit around 2008. Did they learn their lesson? Oh no, absolutely not. This is simply mismanagement and fraud. That’s why I consider a current lawsuit to be entirely appropriate.
Export these logs as xml files (as they say max. 1.000 entries for 1 export - in my opinion its rather only 100 at one time) and import/open them in MS Excel to find all your purchases from the music store in the past.
Looks like this:
You may take screenshots too to prove your purchases.
IMPORTANT: In my opinion you don't have to prove ALL of your song purchases. In my understanding IMVU will be responsible to return these details on request as soon as class action lawsuit was granted. So don't worry about that. A couple of purchases before autumn 2025 should be enough for your lawyer.

I quit using IMVU as soon as this took affect and they gave all of us power users the middle finger. Cancelled VIP, closed rooms, and have not bought any credits. I used to spend probably $200 a month on credits alone plus VIP. Only ever coming back around here and there to see if they are going to fix it. I can see they aren't, I'll delete my account eventually but if anyone on here is doing the class action thing and it has merit, message me. I'll sign it in a heartbeat. The mods and admins of IMVU stopped caring about the users like us that have kept them afloat for years. Damn shame, all this time and not even a nod at the problem or an attempt to fix it. I hope it shuts down entirely at this point.

Okay here's my position No court is going to allow destroying evidence of proof of purchase to escape liability. If they have to get records from the 3rd party they will. This is a serious big case offense. Veri is not going to take the fall for what IMVU did us. IMVU is guilty 100% they knew the service was ending. They did nothing to transfer or continue support for what we bought and they let us keep buying, basically stealing from us for months. There is no way our service was restored last summer without a written expiration date of service from the providing company. IMVU did us wrong Period!

Hello my fellow IMVU’er… did anyone start a class action yet? I reached out to two lawyers who handles these types of cases here in Canada but the only thing is I don’t have proof that I purchased music from imvu, so I’m not sure if I would even qualify to be apart of a class action lawsuit yet. Since imvu refuse to give me the music history I had purchased. I think they definitely did us dirty and cleaned up their mess they created. Don’t get discouraged, I will update once I hear back from a lawyer.

It's exceptionaly sad to discover today that I lost the thousands of songs I think I bought over my 20 years with IMVU. As I'm sure IMVU is working its best to responsively find ways to offer us a way to recover access to nowoday's huge catalogs of musics, we all need to understand that we didn't buy musics and songs but accesses to those songs. The source is dead as the provider of those musics went out of businesses. It's really sad. It happens every day in this capitalist world in particular when lots of people spend their time complaining for nothing. This being said, it would be a nice idea if IMVU could make a deal with Spotify for instance to offer us to have access to their catalog live in IMVU's rooms. Just saying... That would offer all of us to recover much more than what we bought already. wouldn't it ?

Message to IMVU Moderators Please Forward to IMVU Leadership
We are asking the moderation team to please listen to the community and make sure this message reaches the people who make decisions at IMVU.
First, we ask that IMVU reduce the amount of promotional spam being sent to users. Many customers are tired of constant messages about offers, contests, and promotions. We want IMVU to focus more on improving the platform and listening to the people who use it every day.
Second, regarding the music feature: customers paid through IMVU and supported the platform with the expectation that the features available to them would continue to be supported. If IMVU cannot restore the music experience that customers paid for and enjoyed, then we are asking for a fair solution, including refunds or another appropriate resolution.
Customers did business with IMVU, not with outside companies or previous management. The responsibility for addressing paid features and customer concerns belongs with IMVU.
Please do not tell customers that the only answer is going back to 2025 or place the responsibility on past circumstances. The community is asking for IMVU to take ownership, communicate honestly, and provide a solution.
IMVU is built because of its users, creators, and customers. Without the community supporting this platform, IMVU would not be where it is today. The voices of customers deserve to be heard and respected.
We respectfully ask the moderators to take this feedback back to IMVU leadership and make sure the community receives a real response.
Thank you.

This is the final response I received from IMVU regarding the VerveLife music service shutdown.
IMVU states that VerveLife made the decision to discontinue the service and that licensing, infrastructure, and support were managed by VerveLife. Because of this, IMVU says they are unable to provide refunds for older music purchases and are only offering limited compensation for purchases made near the shutdown date after October 1, 2025..
They also stated that compensation for older purchases is not possible because IMVU did not receive financial support from VerveLife to offset the service closure.
From a user perspective, this raises concerns. Purchases were made directly through IMVU’s platform, and many users reasonably assumed that IMVU, as the seller/processor, would be responsible for ensuring fair resolution if a paid service is discontinued.
It is disappointing that responsibility is being attributed to a third-party provider when transactions were handled through the platform itself. From the outside, it appears users are left with little recourse, even though IMVU continues operating and generating revenue.
Many users will have to decide for themselves whether continued spending in a system with these limitations is worth it moving forward.
I’m sharing these so others are aware of the situation and the reasoning provided in IMVU’s final response so you can decide if you want to hang you boots up to like many others already have.

You can still list your purchases in the music store if you're a creator. In this case you can use the credit balance event log: https://de.imvu.com/catalog/developer_report.php?reporttype=balancelog
