Yesterday what I thought would never happen happened I accepted a note from a friend and I clicked a link didn't think anything of it then 5 minutes later I was logged out of my account and when I logged back in everything that I have built for over 7 years was gone and all I saw was this tacky account TheRedDivaa didn't look a damn thing like my original Avatar in the next thing I know I get a note from my account talking about if you want your account back all you have to do is pay $70
Hackers are the scum of the Earth I used to really believe I was smarter than them but if they show up in an account that they hacked and pretend that they're friends with you yeah you can get got I already reported the account and also someone else did for some strange reason I was still able to get notifications from that account when people were turning the hacker down I saw that one of my dear friends also told them looks like you already been hacked so I'm reporting this I'm hoping to get my account completely restored I haven't heard back from IMVU yet just send some well wishes I could use all the positivity I can get
I'm using my spare account for now I'm glad I set this up a long time ago just in case

Same thing happened to me love I can't get in. It's taken imvu three days to respond. All they're doing is, asking questions not fixing my account. I'm VIP yet they won't do live chat with me

Ciao TheRedDiva non sei la sola anche a me ieri sera 7 agosto è accaduta la stessa identica tua situazione perdendo il mio avatar ladyTempesta del 2010. Spero che staff di Imvu ci possa aiutare a recuperare il nostro avatar e che tutti gli altri utenti stiano attenti poichè ora è una situazione a catena...con il mio avatar contatterà i miei amici e ruberà i loro e così via chiedendo dollari per poterli riavere.

If you can log back on the account that was hacked then you still have the upper hand.
If the hackers contact you again then try to stall them with some BS story so they think that they are still in control. Tell them that you won't have "their" $70 until you get paid at work and don't let them know that you contacted the IMVU staff for help. This might "buy the time" needed to get the staff of IMVU to help you.
Once you get a reply from the staff of IMVU then ask them how you can change the E Mail address on the account that was hacked if the original E Mail was also hacked.
