How to Run a Traceroute

On Windows

STEP 1. Open the command prompt.

  • Go to Start > Run.
  • Type cmd and press the Enter key.
  • This will bring up a command prompt window. It has a line that looks like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname> _
with a cursor blinking next to the > symbol.
 

STEP 2. In the command prompt, type: tracert imvu.com
 

STEP 3. Wait a couple of minutes for this to complete.

STEP 4. Take a screenshot
  • Press Win + PrtScn to save the screen to the Screenshots folder in your pictures folder, Win + Shift + S, or return to your start menu and launch the snipping tool.
  • Save this file.


STEP 5. Send us this screenshot file.


On Mac

STEP 1. Open a terminal window. For more information, you can check out this link: https://www.idownloadblog.com/2019/04/19/ways-open-terminal-mac/.


STEP 2. In the terminal, type: traceroute -I imvu.com and press return.

 


STEP 3. Wait a couple of minutes for this to complete.


STEP 4. Take a screenshot:

  • Press Shift-Command-4
  • Drag to select the terminal window area of the screen to capture. To move the entire selection, press and hold Space bar while dragging.
  • This file is saved to the desktop.


STEP 5. Send us the screenshot file.
