IMVU is strictly against all behavior that poses any harm or inconvenience against our users, as evidenced by our Terms of Service. You can count on us to investigate any reported occurrence of user harassment or the like, so long as proper evidence is provided. But how can a user flag such offenses, and how can you provide the proof?

IMVU has a variety of reporting tools at your disposal:

  • A user's homepage - A “Report home page” link is usually located at the top right hand corner of a user's homepage.

  • IMVU Classic live chat - You may report abuse during chat by clicking the flag icon that appears when you hover your mouse on the avatar name of the user in the chat box.

  • Upon the receipt of a message - You may flag a message on your homepage’s Inbox (through the IMVU classic website) by clicking on the gear icon that will appear when you hover your mouse  at the lower right hand side of the message, then selecting “Flag this Message” from the dropdown that will appea

  • If you are in IMVU Classic, you may click the "safety" button on the lower left hand corner of the message, and an option to either flag or block will appear.

  • Flagging an offensive badge - You may flag a badge by clicking on the badge (on the offender’s avatar card) and clicking on “Flag for review”.

  • Pulse - Hover your mouse over the upper right hand side of the offending pulse, and click on the “x” icon when it appears. Then, click on the “Safety” button, and an option to either flag or block will appear.

  • Avatar Card (Profile Picture, Name, Tagline, Interest) - Click on the "Flag" button at the bottom of the avatar card. A new window will pop up, wherein you may choose the nature of the offense you are flagging the avatar for. Then, click on the "Flag" button again on the lower right hand side.

  • Album Picture - Hover your mouse over the photo, then click on the flag icon that will appear on its upper-left hand corner.

  • Walk Off - Yes, even users who act inappropriately in Walk Off can be reported! Click on the "Expand" button on the left side of the chat box to bring up the record of the conversation. Then, hover your mouse on top of the offending avatar's name. Click on the Flag icon that will appear to send the messages for review.

If you believe that anything sent or posted by another user contains obscene, abusive, or hateful content, or if you believe that messages and posts contain malicious code designed to adversely affect your homepage or account, we encourage you to use these reporting tools. Unfortunately, we cannot accept messages/chats in text format or screen shots. Also, we do not accept messaging or copied chats from third party site such as Yahoo or MSN as proof.

We can only take action against a user if he/she has been reported with the use of IMVU reporting tools which are available within the IMVU community. These allow us to view a user's violation and take action depending on the severity of the violation.

TIP: To help prevent any instance of harassment from another user, you can also make your homepage private and viewable only to your friends. Please go to Account Settings then click on the tabs that you want only your friends to view under the Panel Visibility Settings.

Also, please make sure you do not visit the offender’s homepage. Simply ignore him/her and do not engage in any messages or chatting with him/her..
