Available on IMVU Desktop Beta and IMVU Mobile, Live Rooms give you the power to connect with a larger audience like never before. Whether you're planning a big presentation or just want to chat with dozens of friends at once, Live Rooms are your go-to feature.

Broadcast to a Bigger Crowd

IMVU now lets you invite more people to your rooms, making it easy to broadcast, entertain, demonstrate, or present to a larger group of users. Perfect for hosting events like pageants, contests, or even just asking your audience how they're feeling. Plus, with the Polling feature, you can interact with your audience in real-time during your Live Room session!

Live Rooms are accessible directly from the IMVU Website. If you're into Voice Chat or watching YouTube videos (supported on Android and IMVU Desktop), you'll need to stick with IMVU Desktop. But don’t worry, we’re continuously enhancing your web experience—so stay tuned for more updates!

What are Live Rooms?

Live Rooms are public rooms where hundreds of users can gather as Viewers, with up to ten users acting as Presenters. These rooms are hosted by users who can purchase subscriptions to feature their public rooms whenever they want.

Who Can Be a Live Room Presenter?

Presenters are users who enjoy full avatar interaction in the chat room. They can move around, interact with others, and bring your room to life. Depending on your subscription, you can have up to ten Presenters at a time.

Who Are Live Room Viewers?

Viewers can explore the entire room and chat but don't appear in the room as avatars. Once all Presenter slots are filled, additional users will automatically join as Viewers.

Finding and Using Live Rooms

Where Can I Find Live Rooms?

Just go to the Chat section and select the Live Rooms tab on the main page. You'll see the most active rooms with available spots listed first.

What Can I Use Live Rooms For?

Live Rooms are perfect for fireside chats, weddings, fashion shows, large group hangouts, house parties—you name it! We can't wait to see the creative ways you'll use this feature.

How Do I Become a Live Room Host?

It's easy! Just purchase a Tiered VIP subscription. This gives you access to Host Subscriptions, enabling you to feature your rooms as Live Rooms.

How Can I Become a Presenter if I Enter as a Viewer?

By default, you'll enter as a Viewer. To switch, click the Presenter/Viewer icon at the top left of your screen, which says "Tap here to go Live with your avatar." This lets you move around the room as a Presenter. To return to Viewer mode, click the icon again.

Managing Your Subscription

What Happens if I Upgrade or Downgrade My Subscription?

If you upgrade, your new Live Room slots and free credits will be added immediately.

If you downgrade, any extra Live Room slots will be removed, but you'll keep using the current slots until your next billing cycle. Remember, there are no prorated refunds for the current month—your next payment will reflect your new subscription level.

Important: When your subscription ends, you'll lose all associated perks, including your ability to host Live Rooms, and your Host badge will be removed. Any Live Rooms you have will convert to regular Public Chat Rooms, provided you still have Public Room Slots.

Using Your Host Subscription

After purchasing a subscription, you'll immediately receive a Host badge on your profile—congrats! To enable Live Room Hosting, go to your Room Settings and toggle the Live Rooms option on or off as needed.

Note: Live Rooms convert an existing Public Room into a Live Room. Private rooms cannot be converted.

Can I Use Existing Public Room Slots to Create Live Rooms?

Yes! All your public room slots are available under "My Rooms" in the Chat menu. Use any slot to make a room live—1 slot = 1 live room. When you switch a public room to Live Mode, everyone must reenter as Viewers.

Can I Invite Friends to My Live Room?

Absolutely! Invite friends on IMVU Mobile or Desktop, and they can join as Viewers or, if there's space, as Presenters. If all Presenter slots are filled, the Host can remove someone to make room for the invited friend.

Chat and Safety in Live Rooms

How Can I Participate in the Conversation?

Hosts, Presenters, and Viewers can all join the chat. You can filter the conversation to see only Presenters' messages by tapping the filter icon and selecting "Presenters' Messages Only."

How Do I Know How Many People Are in the Room?

Check the Room Card, which shows the number of active Presenters out of the total available slots (e.g., 0/10).

Do the Same Rules Apply to GA, AP, and VIP Rooms?

Yes! GA rooms are open to everyone, while AP and VIP rooms restrict entry to AP and VIP users, respectively.

Are User Safety Rules the Same in Live Rooms?

Absolutely. Hosts and Moderators can remove users who abuse, troll, or harass others. You can also flag inappropriate behavior.

How Do I Assign Moderators to My Live Room?

Hosts can select trusted friends as moderators who can remove misbehaving users. Only your friends can be selected as moderators, and if you unfriend them, they will no longer be a moderators. Only AP members can be selected as moderators for AP rooms.
