When installing the IMVU IMVU Classic (IMVU Client), you may come across with this error message:
"NSIS Error
The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk a failed download or a virus.
You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.
It may be possible to skip this check using the NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)."
If you received this message or something similar to it, try one or all of the troubleshooting options below:
OPTION I: Using a Different Internet Browser
Try downloading the program again using a different browser, if possible (Firefox, Edge, or Opera web browsers if you are already using Chrome). You may also use Free Download Manager, which integrates with different browsers and may help restore broken downloads. The Free Download Manager can be found at http://www.freedownloadmanager.org.
OPTION II: Checking for Any Virus or Malware on Your Computer
Another possible reason for receiving this error message is that your computer may have a virus or adware that is corrupting the installer. It is recommended that you check and free your computer from any virus, malware, or adware then try downloading a new installer, and check if it works.
OPTION III: Checking Your Computer's Anti-Virus Settings
Finally, it could be the antivirus software itself that is blocking the installation. You may try disabling it for the meantime then re-enable it once the installation is complete. Below is a sample of disabling the McAfee anti-virus. We realize not everyone uses McAfee however, these steps should guide you through other brands of anti-virus software.
STEP 1: Double-click the anti-virus icon in the system tray located at the bottom right corner of your desktop.
STEP 2: Beneath the Protection Status heading, click on the Computer & Files icon then select Configure.
STEP 3: Set everything to the Off position.
STEP 4: Click Protection Status again, then the Internet & Network icon, and then select Configure.
STEP 5: Set everything to the Off position.
STEP 6: Try downloading the IMVU Classic (IMVU Client) again and see if it works this time.
