If IMVU Official believes that a user of IMVU is either (a) abusing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) process with filings that appear to be without basis or (b) by repeatedly posting infringing content that is the subject of valid DMCA notifications, we may exercise our right to terminate the abusing user’s account. Keep in mind, though, that the actions of the IMVU Official still do not determine the actual outcome of copyright disputes. In the US, copyright is assigned by the Federal government and governed by existing legal systems.

Furthermore, the liability for damages for false claims is set out under the DMCA provisions of the Copyright Act, passed by the U.S. Congress. Note that these damages and legal fees can be significant. For example, you may check http://www.onlinepolicy.org/action/legpolicy/opg_v_diebold/.
