This is an important update for Grandfathered Creators.
In the announcement below we stated that starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators, including Grandfathered Creators, will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to be in the Earn Money Program and receive cash payouts.
(This requirement does not affect Grandfathered Creators who are subscribed to legacy VIP (from before Tiered VIP launched).
We realize this is a huge change for many Grandfathered Creators and have been closely following feedback regarding this new policy.
Based on your valuable input, we have come up with a solution that should make it easier for affected Creators to transition.
Details are as follows:
LINKED ACCOUNTS FOR GRANDFATHERED CREATORS
Starting July 1, 2023, Creators will be able to link three Grandfathered Creator accounts together, with only one VIP subscription.
Creators will choose one Grandfathered account for their VIP subscription, and two additional Grandfathered accounts that will not need VIP.
If a Creator already pays for Platinum or Diamond VIP on a non-Grandfathered account, they can apply it to two of their Grandfathered accounts.
All three linked accounts will be eligible for the Earn Money Program and payouts.
Once the accounts are linked, new earnings from these accounts will be combined into one MASA balance. Earnings from before the accounts are linked will not be combined.
Grandfathered accounts that are grouped with a VIP account will not need to apply for the Earn Money Program as long as they have already been approved to participate in the Earn Money Program prior.
Starting August 2023, earnings from the linked accounts can be set up to funnel into the VIP account.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO LINK GRANDFATHERED ACCOUNTS
Here’s how to link a Platinum or Diamond VIP Grandfathered account with two additional accounts.
Make sure one of your Creator accounts has Platinum or Diamond VIP
Submit a help ticket to the Earn Money Program, requesting linked accounts. List an account that has VIP, and two Grandfathered accounts that do not have VIP.
If any of the linked accounts is not in the Earn Money Program, those account(s) will need to join to earn money and request a payout. All accounts will be able to apply to the Earn Money Program without a VIP subscription. However, you will not be able to earn money or request a payout until the account has a qualified VIP subscription or is linked to a Grandfathered account with a qualified VIP subscription.
Once the team receives your ticket (and your Earn Money application(s) if applicable), they will:
Check to make sure the accounts are owned by you
Confirm your Earn Money Program application has been accepted.
As soon as your accounts are approved, the team will link them together, so all three can be in the Earn Money Program with only one VIP subscription
ADDITIONAL BENEFIT - JULY ONLY
Between July 1 and July 30, Earn Money accounts with less than $50 can convert their balances into Credits. To receive Credits, send a help ticket to the Earn Money team.
Attention Creators - Starting July 1 Earn Money Payouts will require VIP
This is an important notice for Creators who are not signed up for VIP but still receive cash payouts in the Earn Money Program.
Starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to receive cash payouts.
This does not include legacy Creators who signed up for VIP before the Tiered VIP system launched. They already have the equivalent of Platinum VIP and do not need to take any action.
CLARIFICATION:
Added 5/18/23: By "legacy Creators" we mean Grandfathered Creators. Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
When this new requirement is introduced, Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
Added 5/23/23 - You will not be able to earn cash or receive payouts unless you purchase Platinum or Diamond VIP. Once you join VIP you can earn cash and receive payouts. You will not lose existing cash balances. They will simply not be available without VIP.
The Platinum and Diamond VIP memberships offer exclusive benefits that will help Creators make the most of their IMVU experience, including free live chat rooms, live voice broadcasting, and catalog discounts. See our store https://www.imvu.com/next/store/ for more details.
We realize VIP is new to many of you, and to that end, we have provided several weeks of notice so that you can review the Platinum and Diamond VIP offerings and decide which is right for you. See our store https://www.imvu.com/next/store/ for more details.
Thank you!

Yes, and? IMVU has weathered the worst they're going to experience regarding backlash over this policy change and didn't flinch. They made concessions to people with multiple accounts and that's it. They're not backing down. So, I ask you again what is the logic behind replacing requiring VIP with a processing fee, under the assumption that it'd be the same cost? All you're doing is arguing for IMVU to charge you the same to give you less.
Side note, I am also under the assumption that this would be just as much of a hassle for people in countries where purchasing VIP is a hassle. If it is not, I'm sorry - and I'd definitely be all for them being able to have the alternate of a processing fee, since the costs Poly listed undoubtedly outweigh the perks of VIP (that being the monthly credits might possibly take some of the financial sting out of this).

For those who have the option, the $50 gift card redemption for VIP offer still works too. That's the route I go. I'm guessing that isn't an option for people like Poly and others in certain countries, though. :(

I agree. I've long been on the opinion that the whole VIP thing should be a Chinese menu of options rather than this list of what some executive who has never used the product and probably has no interest in the actual user experience of IMVU thought up at some board meeting to sound hip, cool and young. I mean, heck, considering the categories in tiers, half of which have absolutely nothing to do with actual creating, why not throw in a whole tier bump for people who buy VIP? I mean, half the damn categories are flagrant, 'you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back,' things to begin with, so why not throw that bone in so that I can save a literal nickel on publishing items in the catalog?

@EMpulse How about asking for a one of payment fee yearly to cash out for low earners, and put in a clause you can only cash out once. Any other funds will have to be done the following year. Imvu will still be earning on the interest on the money that is sitting there. And also a clause that it can only be up to a certain amount. Anything above will have to be vip.

You may not buy into those ideas but if you read a lot of the comments, there are more than enough creators that would opt for a custom VIP subscription catered to just creators if this is the way things need to be. Part of business is looking into options, making plausible suggestions that would benefit both sides of the fence. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. Hopefully something that IMVU will learn as well.
As for looking into things, what do you think the Research and Development team does for a business? They analyze numbers, take a look at processes, and then give the advice to the company of what changes are recommended for the benefit of the company. While you may not like the advice or the decision to follow that advice, that is inconsequential in business. The only thing you can do is stop supporting the business if you don't support what the business is doing or standing for.
I am sorry that you and your mouse in the pocket (still assuming that is the "we" you keep talking about) do not want to pay the cash out. That is your choice not to if you don't see that it's worth all the hoopla. Many other creators have made that decision as well. Personally, I think creators would stand a better chance by submitting ideas for the custom VIP subscription than they would, forgive me for my bluntness, in following your footsteps in demanding and making baseless and factless accusations of unfair treatment based on minority status or individual hardship and posting non-stop nonsensical comments that can leave other creators frustrated because you give the impression that you have no real want to have a dialog with anyone nor want to hear their opinions.

It's not that they won't look at it. They did. But when creators don't pay for services and only get paid out, they lose money. They have to make money in order for them to stay in business and paying it out constantly with no changes, which again they did promise the grandfathered status would change back in 2012 without saying when or how; that doesn't make the money to be able to keep the platform going so we could even be classified as IMVU creators.
I could get behind paying a fee for those that don't cash out often. I can get behind suggesting a custom VIP subscription for creators in which if they subscribe, the fees would go away along with some other good perks that creators could benefit from. One would be do away with the submission fee but keep the dev fee as we know without the epic meshers, we'd not be able to do any of our work.
As for the minority thing, not sure why that is getting brought into the mix. Need clarification on that one of your meaning.

These are the facts that IMVU won't look at, leaving more vulnerable creators and or disproportionally affected minorities and individuals in an unfair position nobody should be forced to pay for their rightful earnings on a forced subscription basis.

I would personally be fine with a small fee to cash out. But then again I dont make the big bucks anymore and it takes months for it to add up to something significant. I have no problem with cashing out twice a year. I could even do it once if necessary. I think its something to consider for those such as myself. I won't pay for VIP because I simply cannot afford it. I have medication I can't afford anymore, and most consider Insulin to be rather important. I am at my wits end with this......but thank you to staff for providing some answers.

commissions? on what? work that you submitted and get paid for every time you sell a product which is the very definition of commission?
Venmo, to cash out $50 charged me $2 for an instant transfer fee. I have to pay a transfer fee every time I want to cash out and the fee goes up the higher the amount. So you are asking IMVU to charge the creators more than the VIP monthly subscription, which if I remember the lowest that you can go is $10, because we all know that use services like Venmo, PayPal, etc will just charge higher fees for larger amounts. No thank you. I'd rather they try to offer us a custom VIP package that would make it worth while and pay that $10 a month than a fee every time we want to cash out. Fees rack up. At least the subscription is a flat rate every month.
