This is an important update for Grandfathered Creators.
In the announcement below we stated that starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators, including Grandfathered Creators, will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to be in the Earn Money Program and receive cash payouts.
(This requirement does not affect Grandfathered Creators who are subscribed to legacy VIP (from before Tiered VIP launched).
We realize this is a huge change for many Grandfathered Creators and have been closely following feedback regarding this new policy.
Based on your valuable input, we have come up with a solution that should make it easier for affected Creators to transition.
Details are as follows:
LINKED ACCOUNTS FOR GRANDFATHERED CREATORS
Starting July 1, 2023, Creators will be able to link three Grandfathered Creator accounts together, with only one VIP subscription.
Creators will choose one Grandfathered account for their VIP subscription, and two additional Grandfathered accounts that will not need VIP.
If a Creator already pays for Platinum or Diamond VIP on a non-Grandfathered account, they can apply it to two of their Grandfathered accounts.
All three linked accounts will be eligible for the Earn Money Program and payouts.
Once the accounts are linked, new earnings from these accounts will be combined into one MASA balance. Earnings from before the accounts are linked will not be combined.
Grandfathered accounts that are grouped with a VIP account will not need to apply for the Earn Money Program as long as they have already been approved to participate in the Earn Money Program prior.
Starting August 2023, earnings from the linked accounts can be set up to funnel into the VIP account.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO LINK GRANDFATHERED ACCOUNTS
Here’s how to link a Platinum or Diamond VIP Grandfathered account with two additional accounts.
Make sure one of your Creator accounts has Platinum or Diamond VIP
Submit a help ticket to the Earn Money Program, requesting linked accounts. List an account that has VIP, and two Grandfathered accounts that do not have VIP.
If any of the linked accounts is not in the Earn Money Program, those account(s) will need to join to earn money and request a payout. All accounts will be able to apply to the Earn Money Program without a VIP subscription. However, you will not be able to earn money or request a payout until the account has a qualified VIP subscription or is linked to a Grandfathered account with a qualified VIP subscription.
Once the team receives your ticket (and your Earn Money application(s) if applicable), they will:
Check to make sure the accounts are owned by you
Confirm your Earn Money Program application has been accepted.
As soon as your accounts are approved, the team will link them together, so all three can be in the Earn Money Program with only one VIP subscription
ADDITIONAL BENEFIT - JULY ONLY
Between July 1 and July 30, Earn Money accounts with less than $50 can convert their balances into Credits. To receive Credits, send a help ticket to the Earn Money team.
Attention Creators - Starting July 1 Earn Money Payouts will require VIP
This is an important notice for Creators who are not signed up for VIP but still receive cash payouts in the Earn Money Program.
Starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to receive cash payouts.

CLARIFICATION:
Added 5/18/23: By "legacy Creators" we mean Grandfathered Creators. Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
When this new requirement is introduced, Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
Added 5/23/23 - You will not be able to earn cash or receive payouts unless you purchase Platinum or Diamond VIP. Once you join VIP you can earn cash and receive payouts. You will not lose existing cash balances. They will simply not be available without VIP.

.. where did this come from?
how many times have we all screamed out, the cost of living is crippling us all and NOW you want to drop us into even deeper trouble??
at the ABSOLUTE minimum it's another $120 to find JUST to be able to get hold of the money we've EARNED!! (and thats the lowest vip badge available for just ONE account)
anyone with multi accounts....theyre TOAST!..absolute toast!
you dont think for a fraction of a second the company's not earning enough to tackle financial loss without pushing the bill onto the CREATORS?

As Daren Tsui, CEO of IMVU said in an interview , “There are over 200,000 creators on our platform. We enable a peer-to-peer economy that designs virtual goods and animations and can create rooms and destinations as well. Over the years we’ve amassed 50 million items in our catalog. We create 0.001%; everything else is done by creators.”
While claiming that 2021 was a banner year for IMVU, Daren Tsui ignores, or is possibly unaware of the fact that the creators he is boasting about have suffered terrible loss in sales.
Daren Tsui also stated “Most creators come on to the platform to design and create. Making money is not the most important thing for them. It’s about being recognized for their creations.” Can he possibly be so out of touch with the very creators that keep IMVU going? Personally recognition is the last thing I am interested in. Bills need to be paid, it’s a job.
Pay to play is a kick in the teeth to the creators that IMVU claims as their greatest strength. IMVU loves to say “ the feels are real “ but are they ever considering the feelings of the actual creators, It doesn’t seem like they are, its one disappointment after another. Instead of fixing Studio, Making customer service an actual service, and making IMVU the community it really could be, they focus on draining the life out of creators.
We need change, creating will no longer be sustainable, no matter how much we love IMVU and want to be a part of it all, it wont be sustainable if things continue.

I feel bad for those Creators who have been receiving monetary payouts. The idea of having to become VIP in order to get those payouts is definitely shady. I don't know if it is illegal, but in my honest opinion, I find it to be unethical.
As for myself, I don't receive monetary payouts because I don't get enough sales to ever do so and thus stayed with receiving credits.

So basicly yall just want the (good ) creators to loose money ones again. close their shop and go somewere else. Just take more of their income and scare / run the away. And we all know the good creators are the ones on the classic client. ( you know... the program you so anxiously want to get rid off because you dont want to spend money and time anymore on the music/songs and you dont want to spend money to update the program ) who have been here from begining... and basicly made everything.. clothes skins hairs eyes rooms deco's furni etc . Lots have already left or closed their shops... and now you want to scare the rest of what is left of them away too ?

I am wondering if this is Legal, we signed up to earn cash, we created items and paid for them to be in the shops to make money from them . Imvu have gone back on part of the contract, they are allowing us to just earn credits unless we pay them to be able to make money. This makes what we have already created and paid for worthless. IMVU you may have think you have got away with some of this, but i think you are on very dodgy ground, as you have already taken the funds for us to be able to make money,

i’ve been on imvu since 2009 and this is the nail in the coffin. i’d rather have a deduction from my payouts rather than being forced to sign up for vip beforehand. this is demotivating and i’ll have no reason to create, i’m not purchasing vip
