This is an important update for Grandfathered Creators.
In the announcement below we stated that starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators, including Grandfathered Creators, will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to be in the Earn Money Program and receive cash payouts.
(This requirement does not affect Grandfathered Creators who are subscribed to legacy VIP (from before Tiered VIP launched).
We realize this is a huge change for many Grandfathered Creators and have been closely following feedback regarding this new policy.
Based on your valuable input, we have come up with a solution that should make it easier for affected Creators to transition.
Details are as follows:
LINKED ACCOUNTS FOR GRANDFATHERED CREATORS
Starting July 1, 2023, Creators will be able to link three Grandfathered Creator accounts together, with only one VIP subscription.
Creators will choose one Grandfathered account for their VIP subscription, and two additional Grandfathered accounts that will not need VIP.
If a Creator already pays for Platinum or Diamond VIP on a non-Grandfathered account, they can apply it to two of their Grandfathered accounts.
All three linked accounts will be eligible for the Earn Money Program and payouts.
Once the accounts are linked, new earnings from these accounts will be combined into one MASA balance. Earnings from before the accounts are linked will not be combined.
Grandfathered accounts that are grouped with a VIP account will not need to apply for the Earn Money Program as long as they have already been approved to participate in the Earn Money Program prior.
Starting August 2023, earnings from the linked accounts can be set up to funnel into the VIP account.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO LINK GRANDFATHERED ACCOUNTS
Here’s how to link a Platinum or Diamond VIP Grandfathered account with two additional accounts.
Make sure one of your Creator accounts has Platinum or Diamond VIP
Submit a help ticket to the Earn Money Program, requesting linked accounts. List an account that has VIP, and two Grandfathered accounts that do not have VIP.
If any of the linked accounts is not in the Earn Money Program, those account(s) will need to join to earn money and request a payout. All accounts will be able to apply to the Earn Money Program without a VIP subscription. However, you will not be able to earn money or request a payout until the account has a qualified VIP subscription or is linked to a Grandfathered account with a qualified VIP subscription.
Once the team receives your ticket (and your Earn Money application(s) if applicable), they will:
Check to make sure the accounts are owned by you
Confirm your Earn Money Program application has been accepted.
As soon as your accounts are approved, the team will link them together, so all three can be in the Earn Money Program with only one VIP subscription
ADDITIONAL BENEFIT - JULY ONLY
Between July 1 and July 30, Earn Money accounts with less than $50 can convert their balances into Credits. To receive Credits, send a help ticket to the Earn Money team.
Attention Creators - Starting July 1 Earn Money Payouts will require VIP
This is an important notice for Creators who are not signed up for VIP but still receive cash payouts in the Earn Money Program.
Starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to receive cash payouts.
This does not include legacy Creators who signed up for VIP before the Tiered VIP system launched. They already have the equivalent of Platinum VIP and do not need to take any action.
CLARIFICATION:
Added 5/18/23: By "legacy Creators" we mean Grandfathered Creators. Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
When this new requirement is introduced, Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
Added 5/23/23 - You will not be able to earn cash or receive payouts unless you purchase Platinum or Diamond VIP. Once you join VIP you can earn cash and receive payouts. You will not lose existing cash balances. They will simply not be available without VIP.
The Platinum and Diamond VIP memberships offer exclusive benefits that will help Creators make the most of their IMVU experience, including free live chat rooms, live voice broadcasting, and catalog discounts. See our store https://www.imvu.com/next/store/ for more details.
We realize VIP is new to many of you, and to that end, we have provided several weeks of notice so that you can review the Platinum and Diamond VIP offerings and decide which is right for you. See our store https://www.imvu.com/next/store/ for more details.
Thank you!

This is unethical and just plain DISRESPECTFUL! They're saying, "still create... still submit awesome work to make us (IMVU) look good, but it'll cost you to get paid".
Creators left when you showed them they didn't care the last time, more are going to leave now.
If your pissed off 'Legacy' creators were to make their products "Display Only" or remove them altogether and walk away, don't you think this will cost you more?!

Honestly at this point I'm leaning more towards file sales and other commissions than I am working on my shop or paying for VIP. I'm quite protective over my work so selling files has not been something I've wanted to consider until now.
I just want the ability to accumulate money in my account without VIP. Personally, I might be willing to compromise to pay VIP every few months to cash out. However this change doesn't make me want to continue using IMVU in the way I am now.

Well...This visual laugh at that was funny! However I'm now doing other things with my account's as I witnessed these young virtual world developers branched out to social media platforms making thier videos go viral and are making good money! I'm very impressed; So I guess they can teach us elder IMVU porch farts new tricks after all huh..lol So I plan on developing to make content for my own purposes to make virtual videos and hide the rest since I can't successfully make money here anymore.

They should have just left this alone, the amount they are going to lose by devs no longer wanting to dev , i can not see for the life of me what they hope to get out of this. Apart from all the cash they are sitting on through the Massa cap. Then this has nothing to do with a subscription but a ply to defund wages.

I am one of those creators that don't make enough to cash out so I chose credits instead... mostly cause I usually have a wallet full of green stuff and I'm pretty sure it's mold not green paper. It was a choice I made because I enjoy creating and I'd probably spend it on credits anyway so.. hey cut out that middle part and just give me the creds. It's hard because on a good sales day, I may clear 3k in sales. I set each of my pieces at 200 creds so I can at least make my stuff affordable to make the sales. To get enough decent creds to make more stuff... I usually have to save up for a couple of months. That's without those surprise buys of my bundles. I get the struggles but I also get IMVU's possible stand point of why they had to do this. I hope they take the suggestion and make a custom VIP package for creators only because a lot of the creators really don't use the platform like others. Opening multiple rooms is not a thing for them. They don't need whisper and all that if they really don't hang out in rooms. Could offer to take the amount out of dev tokens or even out of earnings once a month during the first cash out. There are so many solutions to this. Will it happen? I hope they listen and apply it. It would be epic that they wouldn't let us down.

While I agree we need better tools for our shops, I'm gonna say this. I don't know who you are @DOLLB4BY but your hootin and hollerin through this whole thread giving off the impression that your voice is the only one that truly needs to be heard is very irritating. You are not giving any decent solutions for IMVU to even consider and just keep going on and on about how wrong this is. We all already know how wrong this is. We don't need it rubbed in our faces. If you feel the need to close up shop... well... bye felicia. Please do so. Us grandfathered accounts understand how this goes. IMVU makes announcement... we might get to bargain for a slight change... announcement becomes final decision... we roll with the punches so we can still make it. We've done it since the dawn of creation on VU. I refuse to hide my shop. I may not earn cash but I worked hard on my shop. I don't get the same advertising as many higher earning grandfathered accounts. I'm cool with that. I'm working on it. I may join @QBL with raising my prices though in solidarity with those cash earners. Do something positive to assist the creators instead of whining about the injustice.

um... I'm a Grandfathered account and I paid for AP, name changes, the marriage package, credits, and used to get VIP just cause I got to showcase more rooms during events like CIJ and SBS. We are BOTH. There are some creators that will not benefit from the VIP package because they really don't use the platform for anything else but creating anymore. Don't blame them because there are some annoying people that just get that last nerve. But some of us still use it and enjoy it. If you do not use it... then speak for yourself and drop the "WE". Last time I checked, not all grandfathered accounts have the same goals and there's nothing wrong with that.

At this point, I'd reckon they want to separate those who want invest in IMVU a little more from those who simply want to create for fun.
... Though shaking our walkers and canes at the young whippersnapper developers on our digital lawns would be fun for a little while.

I wouldn't be comfortable with that, even if it's for a month. Being called a Grandfathered Creator is nice enough, I'd think. VIP should be something that users would decide to do because you get cool perks, and you support the site while doing it. It should always be our choice, after all. As I said in another thread regarding this, I don't think getting a payout for your work should be a quirky perk for VIP at all.
Giving VIP away to us Grandfathers would most likely make us lose that status and practically forcing the change onto us, whether we'd like it or not.
While that would solve a problem and give everyone a level playing field, IMVU will inevitably lose out on grandfathered creators who get their catalogs closed anyway because they didn't renew their subscription. Sorry, but I just don't agree with this kind of compensation and it's just a very bad band-aid "fix" that won't fix anything at all.
