We would like to address the valid concerns that have been raised by our community regarding the implementation of IMVU's Minimum Coverage Guidelines (MCG). We highly appreciate your feedback and want to assure you that your voices are being heard. Your input is crucial in helping us create a more inclusive and transparent environment for both creators and users.
Clarification on MCG Implementation
We understand that some users are experiencing confusion about how to implement the MCG. Specifically, there are questions about the acceptability of using an MCG opacity map (mcg) wider than the red area. We are actively working on providing more detailed guidelines and examples to clarify this aspect.
Identifying Manipulated MCG/Body
To address concerns about identifying manipulated MCG or body shapes, we are exploring ways to improve our review and flagging processes. Our goal is to make the identification of non-compliant content more accurate and transparent.
Sample Compliant Bodies
We hear your request for sample bodies that conform to the MCG rules, especially on newer mesh bodies. We are actively working on providing these examples to ensure that creators have clear guidance.
Public Understanding and Peer Review
We acknowledge the need for clearer communication during peer reviews. We are committed to providing examples of compliant bodies and exploring standardized mcg skin coverage based on body sizes to enhance clarity and understanding during the review process.
Inconsistent Enforcement
We are aware of concerns about inconsistent enforcement of MCG guidelines. We are actively working to improve our processes to ensure fair and consistent enforcement across all products.
Personal Conflict in Flagging
We take your concerns about flagging seriously and will investigate any instances of unfair flagging. We are working on creating a more transparent and impartial flagging system.
Derived Products and Ratings
We are aware of the concerns surrounding derived products and how they are rated. We will explore ways to ensure that ratings are applied fairly and consistently.
Improved Communication and Collaboration
Finally, we want to emphasize our commitment to better communication and collaboration with the creator community. We value your input and will actively seek your feedback to improve our guidelines and enforcement processes.
We want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these concerns. Our aim is to create an environment where everyone can enjoy IMVU while adhering to guidelines that ensure a positive and safe experience for all.
Please continue to share your thoughts and suggestions with us, as they are invaluable in shaping the future of IMVU. Together, we can make IMVU a better place for all members of our community.
Update:We have updated the MCG section of the Creator Education Center with some additional details and clarification. An anchor has been made for easy access to the updated section. Please note that we'll continue to update this page as the ongoing internal/external conversation regarding MCG continues.
FR. My biggest complaint lately is the fkn censoring in chats. The fact you have to be in an AP room? So i lose the freedom of speech just to be able to post pics to feed?? Like...why on EARTH would you set that as AP only??? JUST SET IT TO AGE VERIFIED ROOMS LIKE....WHERE DID YOUR BRAINS GO? Oh, wait. I don't really recall there ever being functioning braincells up in this place. Or maybe I should honesty -lookin at that vip bs-. Really, though. Wtf does age verified even exist for anymore? It's basically just there for them to collect more money. Useless beyond that since they took basic words and made them "NO NO" words like /SAVE THE POOR CHILDRENNNNN/. smf. Last I read TOS you couldn't be under 13 anyways....it's like they think they'd only learn swear or anatomy words on vu, lol. IMVU has 2 modes: overboard or slacking af. I feel like the MCG they're trying to enforce rn is pushing it a bit, too. I can handle it but it's certainly annoying af.

@LestatDeLioncourt Some of this is already in place & what has got us here. And here's another flaw in yr plan. Peer review is already slow. Thank God not as slow as 5 days as it used to be but its now as slow as 3 days. Yr suggestion wants to punish us devs & creators by making our items take over 5 days again in peer review if all don't agree on a rating. No thank u. I refuse to give any suggestions because this was brought to IMVU's attention shortly after it started and imvu refused to do anything about it. I've said it once I'll say it again. It's imvu's mess...they get to clean it up...and I'm sure they will. The creators & devs will be the ones who will not benefit from this mess being cleaned up...guaranteed.

Hey, all. I wanted to talk about the direction for Peer Review and get other's input on how to make it better :) I have some roughideas and wanted to pass them along to hopefully stir thought and gooddirection for our PR Process. It is easy to point out what is wrong with an idea. It is much harder to help fine-tune it.
Let's make our young people's environment more safe!
The "Core Issue" with misrated products in our GA Catalog is the Peer Review and the Flagging processes.
Peer Review can be fixed. When repaired it should be as close to "Fool-Proof" as humanly possible. The rest of the issues will handle themselves (over time) by Flagging misrated products and well-trained CS Staff to decipher those Flags.
How the Heck is this done? *Some* Ideas...
Train all IMVU CS Staff to the point of MCG Expertise
Train all IMVU Peer Voters to the point of MCG Expertise
Stop and Remove Bots
Stop, Remove and Discourage Inexperienced
Reward knowledgeable, professional Peer Reviewers
First, the numbers below are for general understanding and not a true logical formula. The "formulas" and criteria should be adjusted as needed.
1 - Pre-Peer Review Training "Quest Style Game". Require all people to Pass a Peer Review training exercise with 100% accuracy. This includes all people new to Peer Review.
Set up a mock Peer Review where 100 random products are given for the "Quest". A few of these products are known as AP and appear to be going into the mock training Peer Review as GA. These must accurately be failed by the person taking the training course. 100% accuracy is required to pass or wait for 30 days to try again. Give them some Credits for completing the training Quest. Give Tier Points for completing the task to Creators.
2 - Find failing items before they go to the Catalog! Run new catalog proposed items through the current process 10times. If it fails once, run it back through the Peer Review process 20 times. If it failsonce, during the 20 times process, let IMVU Staff check the item before releasing it to the catalog.
3 - Remove those who are inaccurate from Peer Review (Bots and inexperienced). Keep in mind everyone will make a mistake in the Peer Review process.
If a person makes a mistake in Peer Review, send them a friendly reminder.
If a person makes 3 mistakes (pass a failing item) in 30 days, suspend their ability to do Peer Review for 90 days.
If a person's accuracy (Peer Review History) is less than 80% accurate, immediately suspend their ability to do Peer Review for 90 days. (look for Bots)
If a person's accuracy (Peer Review History) is less than 60% accurate, remove their ability to do Peer Review permanently. (kill the Bots)
If a person has been suspended from Peer Review 2 times in a year, remove their ability to do Peer Review permanently. (kill the Bots)
4 - Pay "Bounty" for misrated Products. The Peer Review process now pays extra Credits for correctly failing a Peer Review processed item. I think it would be a good idea to pay the same "Bounty" when a person finds and properly Flags MCG Failing items that are published in the public catalog. In this manner, well-trained, experienced MCG "hunters" can make extra credits and help keep our GA Catalog, young people friendly.
By adjusting the above criteria, the catalog should become more what was intended for young and mature audiences. I am sure some will disagree with these but keep in mind, a starting point to be adjusted is a good place to be...

@Parcel ok sure. However this has zero to do with your experience. I have some of my own from all over the U.S. & I've not seen a company screw over their employees as bad as imvu has screwed over their creators. Whether all the higher ups are behind this, wanted it, allowed it etc...doesnt matter. It comes down to what CEO's/management wants. Its like this in every company. Time will tell unfortunately. My bet is on the fact they'll screw creators over this mess which they themselves created.

I'm a baby mesher (I've been focusing more on accessories lately, but I do have a few clothing ones), so this impacts me heavily, so I am more invested than I may appear.
My perspective comes from having been a supervisor in a call center (where I was the lead of electronic communication). I've seen and talked to people that are high up in the chain of command in these places, so I know what their attitudes are like. They're not some bond style villain, they're people like you and me (thought the degree to which they're out of touch with their customer base varies wildly from one person to the next).
My perspective also comes from having to be the one to lead my e-communications team on how to respond to huge F-ups like this current one we're seeing. I can sadly perfectly imagine the chaos in their customer service center right now, and i feel for all those workers who are getting cussed out over something they have little control over.
Also, my time at that call center makes me very critical of VU's CS team, and tbh, they need a rework ASAP. But thats a tangent for another day.

@Parcel Then u missed the few after the first time. Lol Imvu is guilty of a lot of things...but I agree with u on they are totally guilty of letting this go on for way too long. The mere fact they don't have an answer themselves and have pretended to "hear us" yet want our continued input means they are getting ready to screw the creators again but want to "show" the new creators that they pretended to listen. Classic IMFU move. Buckle up creators....yall are going to get really screwed again...except for their faves. I'm sooooo glad I haven't used any of the newer meshes nor will I. Not into them at all.

I've been on this site on and off since about 2005. I'm well aware this has been an ongoing issue for a long a$$ time.
The only thing Vu is guilty of is letting this go on for way too long, which maximizes the impact on creators.
Honestly the only thing I rage at VU for is waiting until we had a huge incident like the delta body to finally start enforcing their policies. This should have been nipped in the bud YEARS AGO, before it had stretched large enough to impact nearly every GD creator on the platform.
Prevention is a lot less messy than cleanup.

@Parcel U must've missed the 1stlt time around (as have many) when IMVU screwed the original creators & many of them messed up their catty & left. The ones that are still here have every right to get upset with IMVU. This is not the creators mess. This WAS brought to their attention a while ago yet IMVU chose to ignore it.

I understand you are working on implementing a proper MCG guideline to new body meshes and products but just let me stress that the items which are being currently being classified as GA are deplorable! It seems like the decaying culture is dictating what is considered acceptable anymore under these guidelines -- I sure hope not.

on a slightly different but related note - is it that difficult to prevent someone who is wearing AP items from going into a GA room? You seem to be able to prevent them from posting to Feed but not going into someone's GA Public Room -- consistency when applying policy is important!

Quick reminder, this is happening because some fool decided a quick buck was more important than all our hard work, and more important that minor safety.
I really wish name dropping was allowed so ya'll would quit yelling at VU staff and their customer service agents for covering their bases and making people follow the rules, and direct it at the greedy lil MOFO that started all this by selling meshes with shrunken MCGs that were so tiny they were ridiculous a few months back.
Is it unfair? Yea.
But its worse when you know exactly who is to blame and the fact they're still allowed to create on this platform after their shenanigans.

Have to wait and see how this pans out but it is a good start, and addressing false flaggers is a concern. I was given a 2 week ban on a GA rated bookcase. Reversed after my two weeks. I had no indication in email as to what was flagged otherwise I could have launched a ticket sooner. So improved checking of an item before implementing a ban to verify its accuracy. Some do it as a joke, and need to be sanctioned for doing it, not just talk about it but actually do it. I got a GA bra and clearly GA as per coverage guidelines flagged, so just threw in the towel and re rated all bras of that type AP. Honestly at stage now any future mesh or derived item skin showing clothing, I am going to just rate as AP so I don't get false flagged anymore.
