[Archived - mofaux] Why is IMVU Studio getting stuck on the loading screen?

I went to open Studio and noticed it was stuck on the loading screen. It stays grey and has the yellow pulse dot that shows its loading in the middle. I decided to uninstall the program and reinstall it. After I restarted, then came back to install the program, nothing has changed. It's completely grayed out and will never load. It's almost as if it's in a loop of loading the entire time. I'm downloading and attempting to install the latest version so I'm a bit confused. Is anyone else having trouble with this?

Rattling my brain for any clue on how to help. I am very sorry you both are experiencing this.

 

The reason to delete the projects folder after backing up anything needed is a person I know had a corrupt project causing loading issues.

 

Some information for Staff:

Goldilocks updated to the latest version the other day. She worked on some recolors and the closed Studio. She tried to reopen it and it would not open. She tried again, several times. The Studio did nothing when clicking the icon. Nothing. She started the Task Manager <Ctrl+Alt+Del> and there were several "copies" of studio running under "Background Processes". She killed each one, then clicked Studio and it started as normal. Weird deal. She didn't send the Log File :/

 

Question for Staff:

If someone tries to start Studio and has to close out (as in these issues)

? Is there a Log File created that can be manually emailed to the team ?

For months I have not been able to 'x' out of the Studio. All it lets me do is minimize the screen to my task bar. To completely get rid of it, I have to reboot my computer, so most of the time, I just let it sit at the task bar. I can't even sign out. If you absolutely must create, you can always go back over to the old way of doing things but you won't have any of the new bells and whistles to use, such as shine, glow, etc.

Mine is still not working either. My screen is just white now but nothing ever shows and I have to force close to get rid of it. Yep, was told the same to follow up in a few days but saw an email that my case was closed. Not sure if that's the norm but made me a little sad. I initially came here thinking I must be doing something wrong or there was an update I didn't know about since, like you said, responses are much faster.

 

I have friends who say that studio is running just fine for them and they've had no issues. I'm just not sure what I've done differently for it to act this way. I'll try to contact support, again, later today but I have a feeling since my case was closed I'm going to get the same solutions that already have been shown to not work. :/

I did try to revert back to a previous version and that did not help either. Still getting the gray screen today. When I initially reported this issue, I was told to 'follow up' in a few days. Since then, I have taken it to this area of IMVU for discussion, as it seems that responses are quicker here.

Update: I've contacted Support and the issue has been escalated. Some additional info, I've tried to use both the 1.16.3 and 1.16.4 versions of Studio and both had the same issue of not loading. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but was told to follow up in a day or so. Definitely a big bummer, but hopefully a resolution is found soon.

I, too, put on the base/default female avi and attempted to load the Studio and got nothing, same gray screen. Doesn't matter if I do Force Load or not.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that, sorry. The terminology is still new to me. I'm using the default avatar from imvu to try and open the program (literally nothing on the avatar but the female base). I'm not sure if that's what you meant or not, but if so - it's no longer opening for me. It did open earlier but I didn't have any of that reduced on my avatar. Now I'm just getting a blank white screen with "IMVU Studio - loading..." in the title bar for the program.

@mofaux​ and @KellyJo​, Can you try this: In Desktop/Web set your avatar to base 80 only and then try launching Studio? This is just a hunch based on some log files we have received.

I have run CCleaner several times. I have also run Malwarebytes several times. I have cleared the IMVU cache via 'roaming' on my computer as well as from within IMVU. Sometimes twice a day! My computer recently updated Windows 10. I have uninstalled the studio, rebooted, and reinstalled probably 10 times now. With your new 'run as admin' tip, that did nothing. I checked the box and every time I go to try to open up the studio desktop icon, I get a pop up box on my screen asking if it's ok for it to make changes now. I click that it's ok. And I still cannot open up studio. Why do we need to delete the projects folder? That seems very risky.

What; specifically, have you tried, @KellyJo​ 

What folders did you delete before you re-loaded?

What operating system are you using?

What Internet troubleshooting have you done?

Thank you for your help, however, these steps are of no help and the same, blank screen persists. Day 3 of this and it doesn't matter if I clear cookies, cache, uninstall, reboot, install, the IMVU Studio Gray Screen of Death appears. Additionally, MANY of your Studio download links do not work, the pages won't load. I can click directly on the link or copy/paste the link, same result, they don't work. What I find interesting is that EVERYTHING ELSE ON MY COMPUTER WORKS, except for the Studio...hmmm...why is that??? It really shouldn't be this difficult and I hope that you come up with a better solution for all those dealing with this.

Compatibility is working for some with this issue. Uninstall as in This Post.

When reinstalling right Click the Installer and Run as Administrator.

Then set the Icon compatibility. Right Click the Icon after install and set as so...

Oh my gosh, I didn't realize others have been dealing with this for days! It was after hours for me so I wasn't able to get in contact with VIP Chat. Having that said, I did get it to work but I think it's by sheer luck.

 

The site page to download studio is always having issues for me. It says I have to clear cookies in order to load the page but even after clearing it I can't see anything. It's a huge pain, but I was able to successfully load it after fighting with it for a while.

 

This is what I did that suddenly made it work. I'm not sure if it's an actual solution though - I really do feel its just luck.

  1. I uninstalled Studio and then restarted my computer.
  2. I went back and installed studio.
  3. I restarted studio once it had been installed.
  4. I opened studio which did initally have the grey loading screen again, but then I think I hit View (I think) and then selected Force Reload. This option doesn't show when it actually loads but I'm fairly certain it was under "View".

After doing that it was able to load and I was able to jump back in to create.

 

I just checked this morning to see if it works and it looks like its able to load and work properly.

 

I'm hoping it decides to play nice for you!

I, too, am having the same issue. It started yesterday. So I'm on day 2 of this and it'll soon be tomorrow, for day 3! I don't know how much longer this is going to go on. I contacted VIP Chat to let them know and sent in a screen shot of the gray loading screen. They had no answers but to uninstall and reinstall. I did all of that and, like you, no change. I have rebooted my computer, cleared cache, and more and nothing makes the Studio load.
