I've been clicking on 'Derive from product' yesterday and today and keep getting an error message stating 'Illegal File Name'. So I tried entering the product ID from create and get the same issue. Is Create down or?

Hi @FEMl, The "illegal file name" errors come from the Mesher using names not compatible with the system. Only the mesher can fix those. They have recommended for quite some time to name assets with upper and lower-case alpha characters and numbers. Some Symbols work fine, such as the Dash or Underscore, the simple Brackets [ ], etc. In general, it is always better to stay away from symbols and especially non-English or foreign characters. No high ASCII or very Low ASCII Characters.
The error message "Illegal File Name" in Derive, or any software for that matter, typically indicates that the file name you've chosen contains characters that are not allowed or are considered invalid by the operating system or software. These characters often include special symbols, spaces, or characters that are reserved for system use.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Invalid Characters:
Spaces:
.
Many operating systems (including Windows) don't allow spaces in filenames, although some systems may tolerate them. It's best to avoid spaces in your filenames.
Special Characters:
.
Characters like *, ?, ", <, >, :, /, `\`, |, and others are often restricted in filenames.
Reserved Names:
.
Some file systems reserve names for specific purposes. For example, CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1-9, and LPT1-9 are reserved in Windows.
System-Specific Restrictions:
.
Different operating systems have their own rules regarding filenames. Some may have length limits or restrictions on the characters allowed.
2. Troubleshooting:
Check for Illegal Characters:
.
Carefully review your filename and remove any special characters, spaces, or reserved names.
Try a Simpler Name:
.
Use a shorter, more straightforward name with only allowed characters (letters, numbers, and some allowed symbols).
Save in a Different Location:
.
Try saving the file to a different folder or drive to see if the issue is related to the specific location.
Rename Existing File:
.
If you're trying to open a file with an invalid name, rename the file before attempting to open it.
Contact Support:
.
If the problem persists, it may be helpful to consult the software's documentation or contact their support team for assistance.
3. Example:
If your filename is "My Document !@#$%^&*()_+={}|[]\`~:;"',./<>?", you'll need to remove all the special characters. A valid filename might be "My_Document" or "MyDocument123".
