Hi @Puck  It sounds like your AVG antivirus might be giving you a false positive, indicating that the IMVU Studio update is malware when it actually isn't. This can sometimes happen with new software or updates, as antivirus programs constantly update their virus definitions.

Here's a breakdown of what might be happening and how you can address it:

False Positive: Your AVG antivirus has likely flagged the IMVU Studio update as a threat, even though it's likely a legitimate file. This is a "false positive".

Potential Issue: If IMVU Studio was already installed, and AVG detected the update as malware, it might have removed the existing IMVU Studio installation as well during the "reboot".

Reboot: Your antivirus, in attempting to address the perceived threat, may have initiated a system reboot.

To Resolve This:

Verify the Download Source: Ensure you downloaded IMVU Studio directly from the official IMVU website. This minimizes the risk of downloading an infected file.

Submit a False Positive Report to AVG: You can inform AVG about the false positive detection through their sample submission web form. This helps them improve their detection algorithms.

Exclude IMVU Studio from AVG Scans: You can configure AVG to exclude the IMVU Studio installation folder or the IMVU-Studio.exe file from future scans. This will prevent AVG from interfering with the installation or operation of IMVU Studio. You can typically do this through the settings within your AVG antivirus program.

Reinstall IMVU Studio: Once you've excluded IMVU Studio from AVG scans, download and reinstall it from the official website.

Consider an Alternative Antivirus (Optional): If you continue to experience false positives with AVG, you might consider trying a different antivirus program. Windows Defender, in conjunction with a malware scanner like Malwarebytes, is often recommended as a secure and reliable option.

Important Notes:

Official Source: Always prioritize downloading software from official websites.

False Positives vs. Real Threats: While it's crucial to be cautious of malware, false positives can occur. If you are confident about the download source, it's likely a false positive.

Scan Regularly: Perform regular system scans with your antivirus to ensure your computer remains protected.
