Do I need a VIP Subscription to Sign up to the Earn Money Program?

Starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators, including Grandfathered Creators, will require either Platinum or Diamond VIP to be in the Earn Money Program and receive cash payouts.

Creators will be able to link three Grandfathered Creator accounts together under one VIP subscription. For more details, see this article.

This requirement does not affect Grandfathered Creators who are subscribed to legacy VIP (from before Tiered VIP launched).

Once your VIP subscription expires, your earning distribution will automatically switch to Credits-Only.

How do I get started?

STEP 1: Sign the new Creator Agreement and Policy

STEP 2: Verify your account by providing your full name, physical address, PayPal Email address and tax-related information.

STEP 3: The Earn Money Team will review all the information that you have provided and we will also conduct a review of your Catalog. Once that is complete, the Earn Money Team will notify you of the results.

STEP 4: Once/if your account has been accepted into the Earn Money Program, you will be able to request a payout. Please note, the minimum amount for a payout is $50.

STEP 5: Once you have reached a minimum balance of $50, you may submit a payout request.

How long until I get paid?

Processing times vary and we process all requests in the order they are received. Each payout request is reviewed and processed as soon as possible. We have a dedicated team available in our corporate offices to process these requests. Our payout times are generally between 4-6 business days from the date of request. Some payouts may take longer due to MASA restrictions or other account reviews.

US 1099 and Int. 1042:

1099 – US creators: In accordance to IRS 1099 tax codes, they will be prepared and submitted to the IRS, no later than January 31st. A hard copy will be mailed to you and soft copy can be accessed through E-File magic. A link and instructions will be sent to the PayPal email address we have on file. If you did not receive either hard copy via mail or soft copy option via Email. Please send a request for a soft copy of your 1099 to the Earn Money Team. Once we have verified your request, we will send a soft copy to the PayPal email address we have on file.

1042 – International creators: In accordance to IRS 1042 tax codes, they will be prepared and submitted to the IRS by March 15th. Please note, your 1042 may be delayed due to incorrect information provided by the user to IMVU. After your 1042 has been accepted by the IRS, we will mail a hard copy to the address we have on file for you. If you would like a digital copy of your 1042, please file a ticket with the Earn Money Team. Once we have verified your request, we will send a soft copy to the PayPal email address we have on file.

Tax Treaties:

US Creators - MUST provide a completed W-9 tax form in order to be eligible to receive payments. US residents cannot participate in the Earn Money Program, without a W-9.

International Creators – International Creators will be accessed a standard 30% tax withholding (as per IRS requirements) unless a completed W-8BEN form is filed with IMVU.

If your country has a tax treaty with the United States, you may be eligible to receive a lower tax withholding rate. Please make sure to provide a completed W-8BEN form.

How much money do I need to make in order to request payout?

Once verified and accepted into the Earn Money Program, payment requests may be requested once your available cash balance has reached a minimum of $50.

Why do I need to sign the new Creator Agreement?

In order to earn money directly from IMVU for your product sales, you need to sign the updated Creator Agreement and Policy as it now lists terms for such transactions

How do I update personal info?

You may update personal information by sending in a new verification request with your updated information.

Can I turn existing credits into cash?

No, we are unable to do so since it does not meet our policies related to earning Credits versus money. A creator can choose to earn money only, credits only, or a mixture of your choosing; however, already earned Credits cannot be converted to cash and vice versa.

How do I update my Paypal email?

If you would like to change your PayPal email address, please complete the following process:

1. Submit a new Verification with updated PayPal.

2. Attach a government issued Identification card. ie. Driver’s License, Passport. Etc.

Why am I being charged a $5 fee?

Our $5 fee is based off of more than two payments in a 30 day period.
