Almost every item you see in the IMVU catalog today has been created by a member of IMVU's very talented developer community. IMVU's unique Create Mode allows any user who has purchased their avatar name to create, customize, and submit their own inventions and designs to the catalog, where they may earn credits through the sale of those products.

Please understand that while it is IMVU's responsibility to maintain the overall functionality and operations of the program, it is the DEVELOPER who is ultimately responsible for maintaining the integrity of any individual product(s) they have submitted. If you have purchased an item that appears to be broken in any way, or that later becomes broken (ie: you cannot put it on, there are blatant graphic glitches, the item does not work, etc.), please try to determine if this is a DEVELOPER-related problem (i.e. has to do with an individual item only), or an IMVU-related problem (i.e. has to do with multiple items or with the client in general).

Examples of each of these include:

DEVELOPER-related problems:

  • any complaints about the artwork, design, look, concept, or content of a particular product.

  • any glitch that appears to affect a single item and not the entire content of your inventory.

  • any catalog picture of the item not truthfully representing the actual product.

IMVU-related problems:

  • any issue where you are unable to access your inventory

  • any issue where an item you purchased do not show up in your inventory

  • any issue with the program in general, and not just with one particular item. Examples are the following:

    • none of the products in your inventory work

    • your client does not load scenes or displays the wrong product

    • your client freezes, crashes, or other program-related problems that are triggered by using items in your inventory

To determine what to do if you are encountering problems with the item you have purchased, follow the steps below:

Troubleshooting DEVELOPER-Related Problems

STEP 1: Notify the developer.

For a walk-through on how to send a private message to the item developer, watch the video here.

STEP 2: Write a review of the item in question. Click on the catalog picture of the item, then scroll down until you see the product reviews section, and then click Write review.

STEP 3: Contact IMVU if you are unable to reach the DEVELOPER or if they do not respond in a reasonable amount of time. This is done by filing a Help Ticket from the Help page.

NOTE: When filing a Help Ticket, make sure to include the following:

  • The exact NAME(s) of the item(s) that did not work

  • What exactly happened when you tried to use it?

  • The PRODUCT ID NUMBER of the item in question

  • What happened when you attempted to contact the DEVELOPER (please also include WHEN and HOW you tried to reach them)

  • Your AVATAR NAME

The product will be tested and will be confirmed whether it is broken or not. If it is broken, the DEVELOPER will be informed of the problem, and the product will be removed from the catalog until it is fixed. The DEVELOPER will then have the opportunity to repair the product or to reimburse you for it.

Troubleshooting IMVU-Related Problems

If you are having any difficulties with the program as described above in the "IMVU-related problems" section, feel free to submit a General Help Ticket from the Help pages. Please let us know the following:

    • Operating System and version you are using

    • Firewall or anti-virus that you are using

    • Steps involved in reproducing the issue

  • The exact NAME(s) of the item(s) that did not work and what exactly happened when you tried to use it
