Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about the IMVU Peer Review.

Who can participate in Peer Review?

Peer Review is available to users 18 and older who have used IMVU for at least 3 months (90 days) and are able to use IMVU Classic or access IMVU Website, which is required to review products.

What are the benefits of participating in Peer Review?

You get to help the Creator community publish hot new products to the catalog each day, and you get to be one of the lucky few who get to see products before they go on sale.

How does the Peer Review process work?

After a product is submitted to the catalog it is put up for review. All products are randomly assigned to a reviewer in order to reduce any attempt to game the system.

Each reviewer is asked to evaluate the product and its product details to determine:

  • If the rating selected matches the content

  • If the product and product page adhere to the Virtual Goods Policy.

  • Using the checkboxes, on the page each reviewer can decide if the product passes or fails. If a product passes it will be published to the catalog. If it fails, the submitter will be notified so the concerns can be addressed.

What do I need to know before I start doing reviews?

All reviewers should read and be familiar with the Virtual Goods Policy. You should also be familiar with product detail pages and product icons.

What are the criteria I should use when reviewing products?

You are evaluating everything related to the product, including the product icon, the product detail page (available at the bottom of the review), the product keywords or tags and the product itself, including opening it in IMVU Classic to make sure it works correctly and complies with our Virtual Goods Policy.

Can I fail a product if I don't like the submitter?

No. You should only be reviewing a product and its product description to ensure compliance with the Virtual Goods Policy. If you vote incorrectly too much, you might get blocked from participating in Peer Review.

What if I make a verdict which I know to be correct, but all other verdicts disagree with mine?

If your verdict is correct, and Staff agrees with your verdict,  you will receive an extra 45 promotional credits for each product. Read more in this Help Article!

I don't have an Access Pass. Will I be able to review Access Pass items?

No. Only Access Pass members can review items rated as Access Pass only.

Who should I contact about products which I feel should be reviewed by Customer Service?

If you find a product in the catalog which is violating IMVU's Virtual Goods Policy, you should flag it using the link in the product page. Peer Review is also triggered if the Creator changes the product in any way. You can do this for any verdict which you feel is incorrect, including CS rulings.

Are only newly submitted products subject to Peer Review?

No. Any product which will be sold, gifted, or used by an avatar must be Peer Reviewed. Peer Review can also be triggered if the Creator changes an item's rating. In addition Customer Service may force a product to be reviewed if they have concerns about an un-rated item. Creators may also choose to self-submit any item for review.

Can I choose which types of products to review?

No. In order to prevent gaming or malicious behavior all products across all types are assigned randomly to reviewers. The only exception is that Access Pass items can only be reviewed by Access Pass holders.

Do I have to review every product?

No. You can choose to skip a product review if you are unsure or uncomfortable reviewing the item. Click refresh or F5 to skip.

I am not getting my Peer Review credits!

Make sure to open the product in your client before passing a vote -- you will not get the credits unless the items were reviewed in the client. Also, please keep in mind that there is a daily cap on the credits you can earn from Peer Review. These are promotional credits ("predits"), and should reflect in the appropriate section of your balance.

My product is taking a long time to go through Peer Review. What is happening?

We have made some changes in the Peer Review algorithm that could send some products to IMVU for review even through they have been reviewed by peers in the past. This will cause some minor delays in your products going live in the Catalog.

What are the reasons for my product being delayed during Peer Review?

There are several factors that could impact how quickly your products go through Peer Review, including:

  1. If you're a new creator,

  2. If you've previously had content re-rated by IMVU,

  3. If your submission is AP (AP products have to be reviewed by AP members, so there's a smaller pool of reviewers),

  4. If the voters of your product are not voting unanimously, then it will require more votes,

  5. If the vote is inconclusive, it will be sent to IMVU to review.

Why should I do Peer Review when people are getting kicked out anyway?

We remove Peer Review privileges for one of two reasons: voting Pass on a very obvious UFI product or not consistently voting with the majority outcome of the product. There’s a misconception that if you correctly fail a product and it ultimately passes that you are at risk of losing your voting privileges. This is not true. We actually expect that most active Peer Reviewers should NOT be at 100% accuracy, and the rule that removes people from Peer Review takes that into account.
