How to Install the IMVU Classic (IMVU Client)

PLEASE NOTE that IMVU Classic (IMVU Client) is not compatible with Mac Catalina OS and up. Alternatively, you may download the IMVU Desktop by going here.

After registering with IMVU, you will be instructed to download and install the IMVU Avatar Chat software. The IMVU Avatar Chat software, also called the Classic Client, is an amazing way to meet, chat, and play with people around the world using your unique 3D avatar. It is one of IMVU's many features that are entirely free to download and use. Before you can be able to access the chat module, make sure that you have the 3D Client properly installed. After following the steps below, you will be on your way to fully entering the exciting IMVU community!

Installing the IMVU Classic (IMVU Client) - Windows

STEP 1: Click here to download the IMVU Classic (IMVU Client), and then save it to your computer. Make sure to choose between the Windows and Mac versions, depending on your device.

STEP 2: Open the file you downloaded (either by double-clicking or or opening it directly from the Downloads), and then click Run.

STEP 3: Click on Install and wait for the process to complete.

STEP 4: To log in, wait for the IMVU login screen to appear. Enter your username and password, and then click Login.

Installing the IMVU Classic (IMVU Client) - Mac

IMVU for Mac can be installed by downloading the .DMG file. Follow these instructions for installation:

STEP 1. Go to the IMVU Downloads page and download the latest version for Mac.

STEP 2. Once the file downloads, double-click it. The .DMG will now be available in the Finder sidebar and on the Desktop. Also, a new Finder window will appear showing the file's contents.

STEP 3. Drag the IMVU icon from this window into the Applications icon (either in the same window or in the Fiinder sidebar.)

STEP 4. Wait for the copying to finish.

STEP 5. Eject the .DMG file by clicking the Eject button in your Sidebar. Afterwards, you can delete the .DMG file from your downloads folder.
