We have recently received reports about a scammer activity relating to an “account verification” process that uses the victim’s mobile phones.

A person pretending to be an IMVU staff may approach a user saying that their account is at risk and will need “verification” to remain active. To “verify” the owner of the account, the fake IMVU personnel will ask for their mobile number, to which a “verification code” is supposed to be sent.

This is not an account verification code. What will be sent to your phone is an order verification code -- the scammer used the mobile phone number you provided to make a purchase that will be billed to you in the future. The fake staff will ask for the code to supposedly secure your account, but as soon as you provide that code to the scammer, the purchase transaction is complete. You have just been robbed by this person.
