Safe Mode is a new feature designed to ensure compliance with Google Play Store’s User Generated Content (UGC) policy and to provide an additional layer of protection for users exploring public rooms. Safe Mode identifies potentially Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content, notifying users about sensitive material and allowing them to decide whether to enter the room. This feature will only be available on Android Mobile.
By implementing Safe Mode, we aim to:
Ensure compliance with Google Play’s guidelines.
Create a safer browsing experience for all users.
How Does Safe Mode Work?
Default Settings
Safe Mode is enabled by default for all users in specific regions. This means:
Public rooms will be labeled as potentially NSFW.
Users attempting to enter these rooms will encounter a warning message.
Warnings for Potentially NSFW Rooms
Before entering a public room, you will see a warning stating that the room has not been reviewed by IMVU. Upon warning, you will have the following options:
Enter the room without turning off Safe Mode.
Enter the room and disable Safe Mode for future sessions.
Cancel and return to the room’s details page.
Turning Off Safe Mode
You can manually disable Safe Mode in your settings:
Open the app’s settings menu.
Navigate to the “Safe Mode” option.
Toggle the setting to off.
Once disabled, you will no longer receive warnings for non-approved rooms. However, rooms marked as NSFW will still be clearly indicated, so please proceed with caution and at your discretion.
