We’re introducing new tools on Feed to give you more control over your experience and help reduce unwanted interactions, including spam in comments and direct messages (DMs). These updates focus on making Feed safer and more customizable, with features that allow you to manage who can interact with you and how content appears.
Managing Comments on Your Posts
If you’ve posted on Feed, you now have greater control over comments.
Hide Comments
You can hide comments on your posts so they are no longer visible by default to you or others. Hidden comments can still be accessed in a separate section if you choose to review or unhide them later.
Control Who Can Comment
You can limit who is allowed to comment on your posts to only users you are friends with or following.
This setting is available as:
- “Private Posts” on mobile
- “Allow only friends and/or following to comment on my posts” in the Feed section of Settings on web and desktop
When enabled, only eligible users can comment, while all non-blocked users can still view and like your posts.
Reporting & Blocking Enhancements
We’ve streamlined reporting and blocking to make it faster and more effective.
Report + Block Option
While reporting a user’s comment, you’ll have the option to block the user immediately.
Automatic Comment Hiding
When you block a user, all of their comments will be automatically hidden. If you later unblock them, those comments will remain hidden and will need to be manually restored if you’d like them to appear again.
Hide Comment After Reporting
If you report a comment on your own post:
- You’ll have the option to hide that comment as part of the reporting flow
- If you choose to block the user, the comment will be hidden automatically
