This is an important update for Grandfathered Creators.
In the announcement below we stated that starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators, including Grandfathered Creators, will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to be in the Earn Money Program and receive cash payouts.
(This requirement does not affect Grandfathered Creators who are subscribed to legacy VIP (from before Tiered VIP launched).
We realize this is a huge change for many Grandfathered Creators and have been closely following feedback regarding this new policy.
Based on your valuable input, we have come up with a solution that should make it easier for affected Creators to transition.
Details are as follows:
LINKED ACCOUNTS FOR GRANDFATHERED CREATORS
Starting July 1, 2023, Creators will be able to link three Grandfathered Creator accounts together, with only one VIP subscription.
Creators will choose one Grandfathered account for their VIP subscription, and two additional Grandfathered accounts that will not need VIP.
If a Creator already pays for Platinum or Diamond VIP on a non-Grandfathered account, they can apply it to two of their Grandfathered accounts.
All three linked accounts will be eligible for the Earn Money Program and payouts.
Once the accounts are linked, new earnings from these accounts will be combined into one MASA balance. Earnings from before the accounts are linked will not be combined.
Grandfathered accounts that are grouped with a VIP account will not need to apply for the Earn Money Program as long as they have already been approved to participate in the Earn Money Program prior.
Starting August 2023, earnings from the linked accounts can be set up to funnel into the VIP account.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO LINK GRANDFATHERED ACCOUNTS
Here’s how to link a Platinum or Diamond VIP Grandfathered account with two additional accounts.
Make sure one of your Creator accounts has Platinum or Diamond VIP
Submit a help ticket to the Earn Money Program, requesting linked accounts. List an account that has VIP, and two Grandfathered accounts that do not have VIP.
If any of the linked accounts is not in the Earn Money Program, those account(s) will need to join to earn money and request a payout. All accounts will be able to apply to the Earn Money Program without a VIP subscription. However, you will not be able to earn money or request a payout until the account has a qualified VIP subscription or is linked to a Grandfathered account with a qualified VIP subscription.
Once the team receives your ticket (and your Earn Money application(s) if applicable), they will:
Check to make sure the accounts are owned by you
Confirm your Earn Money Program application has been accepted.
As soon as your accounts are approved, the team will link them together, so all three can be in the Earn Money Program with only one VIP subscription
ADDITIONAL BENEFIT - JULY ONLY
Between July 1 and July 30, Earn Money accounts with less than $50 can convert their balances into Credits. To receive Credits, send a help ticket to the Earn Money team.
Attention Creators - Starting July 1 Earn Money Payouts will require VIP
This is an important notice for Creators who are not signed up for VIP but still receive cash payouts in the Earn Money Program.
Starting July 1, 2023, all Earn Money Creators will be required to have either Platinum or Diamond VIP in order to receive cash payouts.
This does not include legacy Creators who signed up for VIP before the Tiered VIP system launched. They already have the equivalent of Platinum VIP and do not need to take any action.
CLARIFICATION:
Added 5/18/23: By "legacy Creators" we mean Grandfathered Creators. Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
When this new requirement is introduced, Grandfathered Creators without VIP will still be able to create, submit to their shop and earn Credits.
Added 5/23/23 - You will not be able to earn cash or receive payouts unless you purchase Platinum or Diamond VIP. Once you join VIP you can earn cash and receive payouts. You will not lose existing cash balances. They will simply not be available without VIP.
The Platinum and Diamond VIP memberships offer exclusive benefits that will help Creators make the most of their IMVU experience, including free live chat rooms, live voice broadcasting, and catalog discounts. See our store https://www.imvu.com/next/store/ for more details.
We realize VIP is new to many of you, and to that end, we have provided several weeks of notice so that you can review the Platinum and Diamond VIP offerings and decide which is right for you. See our store https://www.imvu.com/next/store/ for more details.
Thank you!

Is this final? Has any staff members decided to tell us this is final? They have awful options and there is no help until you buy into vip, I hear of data breaches happening and this site doesn't feel so safe, we need staff immediately because I want to talk to someone about where it says they can actually do this to us.

A quote from the guy who just invested 35M in IMVU...
“We want to grow more aggressively from the user perspective,” Tsui said. “We have been very good at monetizing our users. But we feel we can do a lot more.”
Monetizing our users... that means fleecing us, making us pay for everything, yes... creators are users to them... and they are convinced they can get more. Good luck guys.

I think this is horrible.. I have been a dev for over 15 years. Now I have to pay 10 bucks a month to cash out 50 every 3 months. So my income on IMVU will be reduced by 30 bucks an I will make 20. This is not right! This company took away the ability for businesses to earn money selling third party credits... and now this!!!??? What??

I think what the current policy makers in IMVU need to realise, is that Grandfathered accounts, are not just old accounts.
They are the people who actually founded the company that you are currently enjoying the fruits of.
We are the original people who made IMVU into a going concern. We do not have shares, we do not have any stake, all that we have is our old accounts, which make a tiny trickle of money still.
In any other business situation, our 16 hour days to grow this company, our tireless input and dedication not only to creating, but also to customer support, shaping the way that IMVU has evolved, giving our all every day to make IMVU work as a business, would have given us either a huge payout when we sold our share in the company, or a large income today, now that IMVU is a successful concern.
However we have nothing. Only our multiple accounts, and of course even this seems strange to modern IMVU users. Why would we need 10 or 15 accounts? Well because we were creating the bones of what the IMVU catalogue is today. There was nothing. So we had to make multiple accounts for the different types of items that iMVU needed to sell. Different clothing styles and so on.
Those original IMVU owners, knew how much we put in. They know that without those original creators, there would be no IMVU. They know, that the deal they gave us as creators sucked. We had no ownership of the company in any way whatsoever, not even any ownership of our own work, and so in gratitude, and recognition of that early work we all put in, they grandfathered our accounts. So we would never have to pay to create, or pay to get paid. This is the only thing that we did get for the massive amount of work we put in.
And this was an agreement made by IMVU with us, which should not be broken, just because you want to make a bit more cash. It is not acceptable.

I am shocked and angry about this change.
I have about 10 accounts on IMVU (kajirasilks, Iracnia7, and others), that are all grandfathered. Why? Because when IMVU was first conceived, and began trading, I would work 16 hours a day to create products for the catalogue. I made several clothing style accounts, a furniture account, rooms account, and male products account.. etc etc..
Iracnia7, Whystler, KittenKat, we were the very first creators here, we wrestled with blender that didn't even have an interface, and was all just math. We invented outfits with an IMVU creator interface that crashed multiple times an hour, and meshes that barely had any shape to them. We chatted and encouraged new users every day. We had to sell our own credits to make money. We had to work 1000% in IMVU, living and breathing this world to get it off the ground.
Without us, there would have been no IMVU. Sure the coders ran the software, but without us, there would have been no engagement.
We were there, when all the customers freaked because IMVU suddenly brought in an AP pass, and deleted all the previous adult content, meaning that customers lost hundreds of dollars worth of items overnight. We were there, when IMVU suddenly changed the coding, and thousands of products stopped working. (more than once). This was way before IMVU had any mods, or helplines or customer support. 'IMVU' were just 3 people in a bedroom. The original creators dealt with 100% of the customer feedback themselves.
Now all I am getting each year is about $500 spread out over my 10 accounts. It is not much. But it is a nice little boost at Christmas time, a nice thank you for all that effort that we put in, back in the day.
And now I get a message to say that I am going to have to pay IMVu for the privilege of cashing out my money. Not just a one off payment, but a monthly payment of $10 and whoopie I can put 3 accounts on that one VIP? But I have 10! So I have to pay £30 a month, in order to cash out $500 a year. Well the math is not in my favour there is it?
If you have to make a monthly payment, then do it as a small one!! and secondly do it per person, not per account. It is ridiculous that I have to pay per account, when I am only one person with one life and one bank account.
But honestly I think this whole idea needs to be scrapped. You have only given two weeks notice to creators who only log on once every few months! And it is obviously totally unfair.
You are just looking greedily at those grandfathered accounts, who have been PROMISED a total freeze on any changes, due to the massive input they made so many years ago. And you are trying to squeeze money without any grounds, from them.
Look elsewhere!

I got mine, too. I've been working on The Sims 4 custom content today and tbh, it's liberating. All of the stuff here just killed my creative drive, but I feel the joy of it again making the CC for the sims. IMVU will just have to enjoy becoming Together Labs Inc. without me. When I wrap up what I'm doing, I'm out. I just can't take the constant bovine scatology anymore.
