Meshers Manipulating MCG is getting out of hand

I've spoken/been ignored by imvu for years on this. But why do meshers not get punished for breaking the IMVU ToS? And please do not say report the item. It does not work. Frankly I believe the only reason meshers are doing it in the first place is because they see other meshers getting away with it, so it spreads like wildfire. And I get their frustrations, because they have to compete against people who don't get punished for it. I do not think most of these meshers would manipulate the MCG in the first place if it weren't the fact IMVU refuses to ever punish a mesher for it. So naturally they have to risk their accounts to have a fighting chance against those who do. It's absolutely ridiculous and needs to be addressed. Not just addressed, but action needs to be taken. Clearly every mesher has seen IMVU is not home when it comes to enforcing the rules.

I think the issue is incredibly complex in terms of enforcing.

What is the definition of a mesh that violates this rule in the first place? According to IMVU it's if you manipulate the MCG. This would make thousands of meshes against the ToS. Even in the creation of a new body mesh, the MCG is going to be distorted and moved around. Who is to say "oops it just ended up like that!" So at that point how do you define rule breaking. Are we supposed to have some virtual ruler and measure that the MCG is covering a certain amount of area? (basically impossible)

Meanwhile, this creator keeps submitting more products that get around the MCG. And at this stage there are hundreds of derives which also need to be rerated too.

Not to beat a dead horse, but there are currently 3 products on the front page of the female catalog that fit this modified MCG issue.

The amount of which these 3 items have manipulated the MCG yet are still listed as GA is frankly ridiculous. In no world would they be GA, yet they are, because no red shows when using the standard MCG skin.

I still don't understand how these are being allowed to pass review even, let alone making enough sales to reach the front pages.

I'm not a parent, but I would be VERY irate if I saw that this is what my 13 year old was able to buy because it was listed as GA.

As Lestat said:

It is important for IMVU to maintain a Kid-Friendly site status.

This is especially true with the new young mobile customers base. For the future of IMVU's reputation, this should be a high priority.

The only problem with this @LestatDeLioncourt is items already re flagged are being left by cs, they don't seem to have the trained staff that recognizes the bump process. If it flagged by lots and they do know this process the other end it is just wasting devs time. I think they should offer jobs to qualified devs that know how the system works This has been going on since i have been here and no change that is nearly 15 years, nothing will change. Or could imvu prove me wrong.

In Efforts to Clean the Catalog for our Young People and beyond Peer Review...

Would IMVU Consider a flagger reward for Catalog mis-rated products?

If approved,

This reward would pay just as the Correct Re-Rating as Peer Review when one is found.

In searching the catalog for mis-rated products and one is found, confirmed by Staff,

then the flagging person would be rewarded the same as if they found an incorrectly

rated, verified product in Peer Review. 25 bonus credits or a DevToken

Two things should happen.

  1. Over a period of time our young people's GA Catalog would be cleaned of infractions.
  2. People who care about the young community would see an affirmation showing IMUV does, too!

After Thoughts:

I know this involves programming and IMVU is already stretched BUT- It is important for IMVU to maintain a Kid-Friendly site status.

This is especially true with the new young mobile customers base. For the future of IMVU's reputation, this should be a high priority.

Heck! Let Mobile Development pay the bill on this one.

Even now more items have been flagged but haven't been changed for weeks, these items are derivable, so we have a lots of faulty items being rated wrong as most do not understand you are in charge of your own item even if it is made from another. It makes a whole mockery of imvu system i really do not why mcg is still here.

Rigsk is it really worth devs time as you know items flagged that go through peer then re flagged once through and are just left by staff you get them changed when i brought them to your attention,it is exhausting trying to get cs to understand .Members care but do have a home life and jobs to hold down. IMVU needs to do its part. It seems they do not have any idea how to bump items and use only the glass effect. I have now given up flagging items as it is just wasting my time, what do devs really get out of it when they are trying to keep tier costs down. If staff in cs ignore it then the issue is with imvu.

Thank you @Nums good point. After flagging the products you can email creator.advocate@imvu.com with the pids.

I don't think you can name other creators on the forums so I'm not sure what you can do about that because linking any product would be doing that.

Thank you everyone for bringing up this point. Manipulations of the MCG areas are always considered violations of our virtual goods policy. If you happen to see examples of uv map manipulations, we welcome you to provide the PIDS here. We can use those to help calibrate our team. As Lestat mentioned it is really important to flag these items when you see them, because not all items that go through peer review are seen by staff.

Thank you. It's getting old that the GA shop is more AP than the AP section.

Perhaps the issue would be most noticeable with a MCG Map similar to this one.

Some of those products were removed, but new ones seem to have been added. The full range of derivables needs to go, including the ones that you can't obviously see until you remove the clothing layers.
