It used to sometimes take me 6 months to earn the $50 minimum withdrawal, so I was paying more for VIP than I was getting. Sooo not worth it, especially when IMVU is gonna send me a 1099 for that measly $50 when they don't have to report anything under $600. But hey, let's make sure we stick it to the really small-time creators too because we can. I used to do bookkeeping for a large commercial realtor and we had hundreds of vendors whose services we used that had to be issued 1099s (if we'd paid them over $600). I easily filtered them so the ones under $600 weren't issued (unless they wanted one). Blanket issuing 1099s to everyone is nothing but laziness. And you can bet I claimed the VIP costs as a business expense since it was required for me to create and them sending me that stupid 1099 caused me to do more paperwork where my taxes were concerned.

Those of you staying *rolls eyes*...good luck.. though you already know it's just a matter of time until the next thing they implement to take your money.. but.. you've all been warned time and time again.. if you let them make you pay..to get your income..then you're just telling them it's ok to treat you any way they want.. *shrugs* I on the other hand.. I will not be sticking around for any more of this...sorry done getting f'd over. My shop will be disappearing.. everything hidden so they can't make another cent off me. It's been fun.. while it's lasted... will take the friendships I made.. and make my way out the door.. Ciao!!

This was going to be me. I’ve been taking long breaks from here but my minimum balance is going to hit soon so I was checking it. I just happened to see the new update.

Unfortunately it will not hit or go through by the time IMVU puts this into action, so I will have money I accrued months earlier now under a pretty 20% paywall.

If such an important thing is happening to your beloved creators, IMVU, then please email us the information as an important update that changes our way of making money on here. It’s bare minimum respect.

You cannot expect us to shift through your countless spammed IMVU inbox messages to look for the important ones. Most of us ignore 90% of them at this point because it is just ads or annoying NFT bull named after genitals. : )

My worry is for creators that only go to cash out out every 3 to 6months or even a year. How surprised and shocked are they going to be when they see that their cash procurement has turned into months of credit procurement. Being that the procurement of cash to credits was not even stated in the message, if you even got one, nor the memos in the creator news - creator updates. Some creators don't even look at their earn money pages for months especially if they have multiple accounts they just do large payouts when their available balance hits its limit. Some will be just devastated by that loss of income.

@Sylaraia​  Not stupid at all.. me and Hubby had this discussion last night in fact. My advice would be to document this thread in screen shots and all staff responses also the memo that they sent out, That's what we will be doing because if we are forced to pay for VIP to access and collect our income we absolutely will be writing it off. In the case of a audit we will have all the information to show the IRS its was a forceable and unavoidable business expense..

I am talking if they do really well and get a backlog of cash sitting, if you haven't got much then you not going to be stung as much as if you was sitting on a large pot of gold.

I thought that people who weren't grandfathered in were already in this boat? I would think that they would have understood the situation, even if IMVU holding their pay hostage when they dropped VIP was still reprehensible?

This new rule will now make anyone with vip question if they want to even want to start creating, if you do well and get amounts sitting there because of Masa caps,and you cannot afford the vip for a while, your cash will be unavailable, and it could be when you need it the most. How is this even a great way to get even new developers who want to earn on board.

I just spoke to my husband on what imvu are now doing, his thoughts as a business owner for 25 years is, you only step on people as a cash grab when your in trouble. You wouldnt need to do it otherwise, bad decisions have now led us to where we are now, and we are paying the price. I hope i am wrong and if i am then imvu should be ashamed of themselves, because they would not need any reason to treat its hard working creator community this way. This boat is sinking.

ou will not lose existing cash balances. They will simply not be available without VIP. ... Have you ever heard of anything that sounds familiar, ohh yes extortion racket, you need to buy this to get this or you will lose out........

So we're completely trapped. We either allow IMVU to make money off our backs whilst we receive absolutely nothing for it (credits can't pay the bills) or we pay for VIP. That is literally our only option here isn't it.

Those who don't earn $50 a month, they can't even wait for their cash balance to stack up before they can pay for VIP then withdraw it? That's disgusting.

Polystyrene got it spot on, I'm so tired of being angry all the time here. This place literally gives me depression.

Fairly certain you do not owe taxes until the money is paid to you. It's only the money written on your tax form at the end of the year that you owe on.

This is really disappointing. I'm so tired of IMVU treating its creators like this. And I'm really tired of being angry.
