Recently my wife and I were in our own public room together having a conversation and a Guest member came into the room and right away insulted both of us. Our rooms have been open to Guest members pretty much, for as long as we've had rooms. We do close the rooms out to Guest members from time to time, but we like to include everyone, give everyone a chance to experience what our rooms have. This person last night knew we were a married couple and he still said insulting remarks and made inappropriate comments towards my wife. He got booted from the room. When I went to message him about his actions, I could not locate his account. It seems like IMVU has left the safety and security of the site up to the community. More or less I am putting this message out here so that we can be aware of individuals like this and we can support each other as a community. Thank you.

Even though it's very easy to just click on the information button displayed when pointing cursor on the person's name in the chat box to open the profile to then send a message you might have dodged a bullet. This because it's against the user guidelines to send a message if the message is unwanted by the receipt. I know this because of what other room mods and room owners have told me and shown screenshots of; IMVU warning messages and screenshots of the message they sent to the booted person.
It's considered abuse to send a message explaining the rules of a room to someone who was booted.... like: 4,500 is KBs limit or no giant avatars or no hidden age or no hidden gender or female only. In fact it's even considered abuse to say some of those things in chat. Even sending a message telling someone to read the rules of the room is considered an abusive message..... but in chat one is allowed to tell someone to read the rules and tell them which rule they are disobeying provided the wording can't be viewed as diskrimitory by the Staff of IMVU.
Lets say a room owner has a chat room that is a safe zone for women and has a rule that males or anyone with hidden gender aren't allowed. Such rules are not against the user guidelines BUT what is against the user guidelines is to tell someone in chat to show gender or boys aren't allowed. In chat one can instead say "read and obey the room rules" but it's against the user guidelines to write it in a message.
The Staff of IMVU only sees what is flagged or reported by the "victim", sometimes the full context isn't seen, like the sign listing the room rules or the room information. They can only see the part of the chat log that the "victim" saw. Sometimes unscrupulous "victims" take advantage of this.
Sometimes it's safer for mods to just boot the person without engaging in chat and send a few screenshots to room owner to justify why the person was booted.
