To verify your age, you need to purchase an Age Verification Token. Once you have your Age Verification Token, you can use the automated system to verify your age. The process can vary based on location but can generally be completed within minutes.
Note: The correct age is not necessarily required if you are looking to get Access Pass or Age Verification -- as long as you are 18 years old or older, you can get both of these upgrades. To learn more, check out this article.
Verifying Your Age
STEP 1: Purchase the Age Verification Token. On the Classic Website, hover your mouse over Credits and click on Buy Credits. In the Upgrades section, check Verify Your Age, then click Checkout. Remember to click No Credits under the Credits column if you do not want credits with your purchase.
On IMVU Desktop and website, click on Credits and Upgrades, and choose Age Verification.
STEP 2: Once you've done that, please follow the steps provided by Veriff to complete the age verification process.
Verification Tips:
- Use a mobile device for the verification process.
- Take a photo in an area with bright, even light and no shadows.
- Do not use an ID that is damaged or expired.
- Ensure your fingers are not over the edges of your ID.
- When taking a selfie, a solid background works best.
Note: Please be aware that you have 10 submission attempts to verify your age using Veriff. Once your verification is declined, you will not be able to make any more submissions. Please ensure that the ID you use for age verification is one of the accepted documents by Veriff in your country.
STEP 3: Once the system is able to verify your age, the Age Verified badge will appear on your avatar card. You can toggle it on or off by checking or unchecking it in your Account Settings, under Avatar card. You can also check under your Subscriptions to see that your age is verified.
What if my Age Verification Failed?
If our Age Verification partner is still not able to verify your age for any reason after 10 attempts, please contact our Customer Support team.
I used the wrong age when I signed up. Can I correct it?
Yes. In order to correct your age, we will need to have a copy of any official document (e.g., Government issued ID, Driver's License, Passport, etc.) that verifies your real age. Send us a ticket requesting for the age change, and once we request for the supporting documents you may send them to us by attaching them to a Help Ticket. Please note that deliberately misrepresenting your age from Minor to Adult or Adult to Minor will be a major offense and punishable under IMVU's Terms of Service.
