One of the ways we are doing this on IMVU is through the Age Verification program for our users.

What is the Age Verification Program?
Age Verification (AV) is an upgrade often obtained by international users who want to purchase an Access Pass (AP) but do not have a credit card to prove that they are 18 or older.
Age Verification is the best way to let everyone know you’re an adult. Through a thorough verification process, we check to ensure you’re 18+.
When you’re verified as an adult, you’ll get a special badge on your profile card to prove that you’re legitimately 18+. The badge is a vibrant green that really pops on a profile card.
What are the benefits of Age Verification?

How do I get my age verified?
To verify your age, you need to purchase an Age Verification token. Once you have your Age Verification token, you’ll need to complete the verification process through our vendor Veriff. The process varies based on your location and the identification you provide, but can generally be completed in a few minutes.
Before you start, please:
Have a valid and undamaged identity document ready. You can check this list for all the accepted documents.
Make sure you have a reliable internet connection
Check if your device’s camera is uncovered and working properly (mobile devices typically have better cameras)
Make sure you are in a well-lit room
Be prepared to take a selfie and a photo of your ID
On IMVU Desktop
1. Purchase an Age Verification token under Credits and Upgrades.
2. Once your shopping cart is checked out, a button that says Verify Age Now will appear. Click on the ‘Verify Age Now’ button to begin the age verification process through Veriff.
3. Follow the steps provided by Veriff to complete the age verification process.
4. Once the verification process is completed, you can check under your Subscriptions to see that your age is verified.
You will also receive an Age Verification badge on your profile card.
On IMVU Mobile (Android and iOS)
At this time, you can’t purchase an Age Verification token directly on IMVU Mobile. However, you can use your mobile web app or IMVU Desktop to purchase an Age Verification token and get your age verified by following the steps outlined above.
On IMVU Classic (IMVU Client)
1. Purchase an Age Verification token from the Upgrades tab.
2. Click on the Buy Now button and complete your order for Age Verification Token.
3. Once you receive the token, follow the steps provided by Veriff to complete the age verification process.
4. Once the verification process is completed, you can check under your Subscriptions to see that your age is verified.
You will also receive an Age Verification badge on your profile card.

What is Veriff, and why is IMVU using them?
IMVU has partnered with Veriff, a third-party service provider, to verify the identity of account owners who wish to have their age verified. Information uploaded to Veriff is retained for a period of 90 days. After this period, the uploaded data is removed from Veriff. IMVU does not receive any raw identification information. Please note that a government-issued ID is required to upload for verification. For more information please see Veriff's data privacy practices and privacy policy.
FAQs
Do I need to have my age corrected on my profile first?
The correct age is not required if you are looking to get Access Pass or Age Verification -- as long as you are 18 years old or older, you can get both of these upgrades. To learn more, check out this article.
Can I gift an Age Verification token to a friend?
No. You cannot gift an Age Verification token to a friend.
Can I use Dev Tokens to buy an Age Verification token?
No. You cannot use a Dev Token to purchase an Age Verification token. We have had promos in the past to allow this, so keep your eyes open for the next promo!
How many attempts do I get after a failed submission?
You have 10 submission attempts. If it still fails, please contact our Customer Support Team for assistance.
Which identity documents are accepted for the verification process?

How long does it take to get a successful verification?
Most verifications should take less than a minute to complete. Please contact our IMVU Customer Support team for assistance if you encounter any issues.
Can I use the same identity document for different IMVU accounts?
Yes.
How can I be sure that the documents I send are secured? Will my information be shared?
Your documentation will be sent directly to our age verification partner, Veriff, who is an industry leader in age verification technology. Personally identifiable information provided for purposes of age and identity verification to Veriff is used only for that purpose and is not sold, transferred, or retained, except as required by law. No data will be stored with IMVU.
If I already have AP and my age is not yet verified, can I still verify my age?
Yes. Please visit https://www.imvu.com/next/settings/subscriptions/ and click "Get Verified Now" to complete the automated age verification process. For more information, refer to http://im.vu/help424.
My IMVU age does not match my actual age. Can I still complete an Age Verification?
Yes. As a reminder, deliberately misrepresenting your age (from minor to adult or from adult to minor) violates IMVU Terms of Service. If this was done in error and you want to have it corrected before verifying your age, please send us a support ticket. Select the category General Support and then Age Verification Request. Please attach a valid, Government-issued ID (scan or picture) that will prove your age.
