Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about IMVU's Marriage Package.

What does the Marriage Package contain?

Who can buy the Marriage Package?

A pop-up will alert you when you are about to proceed with blocking or unfriending (website and IMVU Classic only --- this is not yet available on IMVU Mobile).

I'm 16 and marriage is legal in my state/country. Can I get married?

No. We only allow users 18 years old and older to get married in IMVU. All of our advertising for the Marriage Package will only be displayed to 18+ users.

Is this marriage legally binding?

No, this is meant for entertainment purposes only. If you want to get married in real life, please follow all applicable laws.

What about divorce?

If the marriage does not work out, the avatars may ultimately file for divorce. You may do so by going to http://www.imvu.com/divorce . Please take note that divorce is final and irreversible. Neither refunds nor re-granting of the Marriage Package may be issued to divorced avatars. Once divorced, if you wish to remarry, you will need to purchase a new Marriage Package.

What if I am already married to someone on IMVU?

The marriage status badge, linked profiles, and shared room features are only available to those who buy the Marriage Package. Your current Relations Status or Special Someone relationships are not taken into account.

I am married on IMVU, what will happen if I unfriend/block my partner?

Unfriending or blocking your IMVU partner will terminate your IMVU marriage. See this article for more information.

Can I hide my "Married" status?

Yes. You can do so from your Account Settings. Scroll down to the Avatar card section and untick the "Married" box. Note that doing this will also hide your marriage badge from your profile on the IMVU website and on IMVU mobile.

To unhide your marriage status and badge, simply follow the same steps and tick the "Married" box again.

When do I get the Name Change Tokens?

Name Change Tokens will be delivered to both couples' account only after the other party has accepted the proposal.

How does Our Room work?

The feature, will be automatically available to people who have taken advantage of the Marriage Package. This will be in addition to the My Room feature and will be a shared space for you to have as a couple. Just like a real-life couple, partners will be able to decorate the room together using items from their collections. This is the highlight of the feature - we know many of you have asked for a way to have shared space with the one you love!

Is the "Our Room" feature in addition to the "My Room" feature?

Yes. The feature is be made available to anyone who has purchased (and will purchase) the Marriage Package.

Who will be the room owner if the Our Room is made public?

Whoever makes the room public from their account will become the room owner. It will take up a slot in their public room allowance (which is a maximum of 1 for all users and 10 for VIPs).

Will the married couple share their inventories?

No. The inventories will stay separate and private in each account. However, both partners will be able to add any furniture from their own collections into the shared room.

Do we have to change our names if I get the Marriage Package?

Not necessarily. Both of you will get the Name Change Token once the marriage is completed (i.e., once the proposal has been accepted). However, it is your choice not to use it to change your names. The Name Change Tokens are yours to keep even if ever you get divorced.

Anyone 18 years of age and older is eligible to get married on IMVU.

Do both of us have to buy the Marriage Package?

You only need 1 Marriage Package for you to propose to your special someone.

Do you have to be age-verified or have Access Pass?

No, but the avatar needs to be at least 18 years old.

Are same-sex marriages allowed?

Yes, the gender of the avatars does not matter.

Can I marry more than one avatar?

No, we currently only allow marriage between two avatars.

What if he/she says no? Can I get my money back?

Marriage Package purchases are final. If the other avatar says no, you may still use the Marriage Package to propose to a different avatar. All the benefits of the Marriage Package will remain on-hold until someone accepts your proposal.
