What is Pulse?

Pulse is a feature of the IMVU Classic Website that allows users to start conversations, provide comments, post status updates, and make friends with other IMVU users. Read on to know more about Pulse.

What is “Everyone”?

‘Everyone’ is an addition to Pulse that lets you decide who to reach out to within the IMVU community. All IMVU users will be presented with this as their default view when accessing Pulse.

What is the difference between the “Everyone” and “Friends”?

Messages appearing under "Everyone" can be viewed by the entire IMVU community while those appearing under “Friends” can only be viewed by your friends.

Can I specify what “Everyone” means to me?

Of course! Click on the Modify link to change your preferences. You can choose to see Pulse updates and comments based on Age, Gender, and Location.

Why should I use it?

Pulse allows you to easily read and comment on other people’s status messages. Share what’s on your mind with other people. Reach out to people with similar interests!

I’m confused. What is the difference between a status message and a comment?

A status message is a brief note left by you or someone else on IMVU. A comment is when you write on a status message that has already been posted by either you or someone else.

I want to share my updates only with people I know (Friends) and not with the entire community (Everyone).  How do I opt out?

Go to Account in the header section of the website. Under Privacy & Safety, look for Pulse settings and choose the link of the group you'd like to share with (Everyone or Friends Only).

Who can see my Pulse Updates?

Your IMVU Friends can always view your updates. People who are not your Friends can only see your updates if you have the Everyone option enabled. Occasionally, you will see comments on Friend’s updates that are made by a non-Friend.

How do I view Pulse updates made just by me?

To view updates made by you, click on the "View My Pulse Updates" link located in the top right -hand side of your Pulse feed.

Will I get email about Pulse?

Yes, if someone comments on your Pulse Update, or if someone comments on a Pulse you’ve also commented on, you will get an email notifying you about this.

Can I disable Pulse email notifications?

Yes. Go to Account in the header section of the website and click on “change email preferences.” From here, un-check “We will send you email when a Pulse thread is updated” and click the “Continue” Button. You should no longer receive Pulse emails.

Where did my Quick messages go?

They are still available. Simply click on the inbox tab.

Can I change the default view of my homepage?

Pulse remembers the last tab you visited.  For example, if you click on Inbox to view your messages, that will be the default tab the next time you visit your dashboard.

Can I disable Pulse?

No, it is not possible to disable Pulse.

I can't post links in my Pulse!

As a means of protecting you from phishing sites and other harmful websites, all users may only post links that redirect to any IMVU webpage. External links are not allowed in the Pulse.
