One of the things IMVU is proud of is having literally millions of user-submitted products, to cater to the millions of registered avatars. Sometimes, though, these items may have certain issues. There may be those that do not work, those that do not live up to their product descriptions, and there might also be those that are simply unfit to be part of the IMVU catalog. What if you happen to encounter any of these? Here is a quick glance at IMVU’s Product Flagging Policy.

Product catalog

The IMVU catalog is jam packed with cool products created by its incredible Creators. These Creators do not work for IMVU. Rather they submit content to the catalog of their own volition and are paid in credits when an IMVU user purchases that content.

Given the responsibility and professionalism of our Creator community, IMVU's policy is to allow submissions to the catalog via a Peer Review process for Creators. While most of the people who develop content on the IMVU platform are decent sometimes inappropriate content is submitted to the catalog. Click here to learn more about IMVU's Virtual Goods Policy.

You have the power!

The IMVU community has the power to help find re-rate and/or remove inappropriate content! IMVU allows every registered member to flag a product for review. We encourage you to flag products for review for the following reasons:

  • Product doesn't work - this will give Customer Service the option of forwarding your complaint on to the Developer

  • Inappropriate content - this will give Customer Service the option of re-rating the content or removing it entirely

  • Copyright violation - this will bring you to IMVU's DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act - simply, “copyright”) page so you can learn more about what a Copyright violation is and what to do about it

  • Trademark violation - this will bring you to IMVU's DMCA page so you can learn more about what a Trademark violation is and what to do about it

Flagging process

What happens when I flag a product?

When a product is flagged it goes into a queue of products for IMVU Customer Service to review. Simply flagging a product does not mean it will be removed or re-rated. Customer Service has the discretion to find a product innocent or not. Depending on the type of violation the product receives, it can be completely removed, re-rated, and/or made unusable on the website and in IMVU Classic itself.

Ricochet

Customer Service has the discretion to “ricochet” an incorrect verdict and find the flagger to have committed an abuse of the flag for review system. Examples of inappropriate flags might be:

  • Abusive flagging as a form of harassment;

  • Abusive flagging across many products that are all innocent.

If enough incorrect verdicts are levied against an abusive member, that member's account may be disabled. What does this mean for you? Simply put: please DO NOT inappropriately flag products.
