IMVU has a set of "Welcome Rooms" that are only shown to new accounts. These rooms are designed to be simple, easy to navigate and have a limit of 6 people. As soon as a room is filled, a new copy of it is automatically opened up so that new users always have one of these rooms to get into.

There are separate set of rooms for under 18 and 18+ users.

IMVU is looking for those that wish to have fun and hangout with new users! We have setup an application process for those interested in becoming a Greeter.

Update as of November 21, 2023 - The Greeter Program is being revamped and is not accepting any applications at this time. We appreciate your interest and encourage you to check back regularly for future updates.

Greeters:

Greeters are long-standing IMVU members who get a "Greeter needed" message whenever a Welcome Room has users in it but no Greeter. Clicking on that message automatically takes them to that specific room (it could be any number of copies of the three rooms).

Greeters are NOT moderators, helpers or expected to provide answers to help questions and/or train new users. They are simply expected to be there, chat with these new users and make them feel welcome to the community. All Greeters are volunteers who are not required to spend a specific amount of times in these rooms.

The Greeter program is simply a way to bring new users in touch with existing users, to expose them to our community and IMVU experience.

Greeters do have Room Moderator status for the welcome rooms; however, they are instructed to use booting as a last resort. Booting is currently not available while a Greeter is greeting on iOS or Android Mobile.

What is the Greeter group?

If we invite a user to be a greeter, they are invited to an Invite Only group which gives them access to the Welcome Rooms and gives detailed information on how the program works. They are also given training. One cannot be a greeter unless they are a part of this group.

What do I get as a Greeter?

What is the Greeter badge?

You may see a badge on some profile cards - it’s purple in color with a person waving. The Greeter badge is just a token of our appreciation for those users helping IMVU to greet new users and does not translate into any other rewards.

Greeters are not expected to join the program to get the badge and will not be selected to become Greeters just for a badge. The badge only appears if you are greeting new users regularly.

Who can become a greeter?

Those who wish to have fun and welcome new users to IMVU. Those applying must:

  • have been an IMVU member for SIX (6) MONTHS or more for adult Greeters (18 years old and above) and THREE (3) MONTHS or more for teen Greeters (below 18 - years old)
  • have a clean history (i.e., no abuse reports or other warning)
  • understands and can write in English

Check out this article to know how long the application process takes.

Can I report a greeter?

Yes. IMVU's chat/message flagging tools work the same for all users - including greeters. You may flag their products, groups, messages, chats just like you normally would. There is no separate mechanism for reporting issues with Greeters. Greeters who are not operating within the spirit of the Welcome Room program will be removed as a Greeter.

Can I have multiple accounts of mine get Greeter status?

No. There is simply no need. If you as a person have some time and want to greet new users in the Welcome Room, then you can do so under one Greeter status account. There is no need to do so under multiple avatars.

Greeter Application:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Greeter! We are currently not accepting new applications due to significant changes in the program. However, we appreciate your interest and encourage you to check back regularly for future updates. We would love to hear from you when the program is revived!

Please note:

To those applying, it can take several weeks to get a reply. We only send replies to those accepted into the Greeter Program. Be sure to check your Inbox for messages from IMVU Official to see if you have been accepted into the Greeter Group. Also, note that changing your name within this period would delay your application.
