What is the YouTube Video feature?
YouTube Video is the ability to play YouTube videos in your Live Rooms. Share YouTube videos (music videos, movies, podcasts, and more!) in a Live Room through a furniture item.

What do I need to add a YouTube video in my Live Room?
This new feature is available to Tiered VIP Hosts. Anyone can enjoy the content being played, however only the Tiered VIP Host has the option to control the content.

What platform(s) is YouTube Video available on?
YouTube Video is available on IMVU Desktop and IMVU Mobile (Android).
Do I need a YouTube account to play videos on YouTube Video?
No, any Tiered VIP Host can search for videos.
How do I get a YouTube Video player for my Live Room?
You must have one of the Tiered VIP memberships in order to have a Live Room and the YouTube feature must be activated first.
All users are gifted YouTube furniture items at launch, free of charge from IMVU! You can add these items to your room, whether or not you have Tiered VIP membership.
They will show up in your inventory and in your private room section.
How do I add a YouTube Video Player in my Live Room?
You need to be a Tiered VIP Host to play a YouTube video in your live room. Additionally, you need to have a YouTube furniture item in your Live Room
To add a media streaming furniture item in your Live Room, please use room decoration on IMVU Desktop. Note that currently, rooms can only be edited using IMVU Desktop. However, once set, you can also use the furniture when hosting via IMVU Mobile (Android).
You can also use the free Drive-in Room room bundle, which includes a video player, that is in your inventory.

Once I have added a YouTube Video player in my Live Room, how do I begin playing a YouTube video?
On IMVU Mobile (Android)
STEP 1. Tap on the Media Controls icon on the lower left.
STEP 2. Toggle the YouTube Video switch on.
STEP 3. Tap Video Setup. Here, you can search YouTube videos, just as you would in the YouTube app.
A Recently Played list will also show your recent videos (previous 30 videos that have played at least 5 seconds in the room). Note that there are times when the search box will not auto-populate with suggested results. In this case, click the Done button on your keyboard to bring up the search results.
STEP 4. Once you have added your video, it will start playing in your room. Click Yes on the pop-up to view your video.
How do I stop playing a YouTube video?
On IMVU Mobile (Android)
STEP 1. Tap on the Media Controls icon on the lower left.
STEP 2. Under Play Media, toggle the YouTube Video switch off. Tap Yes under the End Video warning prompt.
What if I want to switch to a new video, even if there is already one playing?
On IMVU Mobile (Android)
STEP 1. Tap on the Media Controls icon on the lower left.
STEP 2. Go to Video Setup, and select a different video. This new video will automatically play in the room.
What are “IMVU Playlists”?
IMVU Playlists are curated playlists created by our IMVU Team with a common theme to make your room more enjoyable and lively for an extended time.
What is “Recently Played” in a YouTube Video?
Recently Played shows all the videos that played more than 5 seconds in your room for easier access in the future.
How do I pause, fast forward, or turn off the sound for the YouTube Video player?
After clicking on a video, the room Host will automatically be taken to the screen where the video is playing. This will also bring up the controller for the video.
To pause or fast-forward, you can use the built-in controls below the video, just as you would a regular YouTube video.
To mute the sound from the video player, tap the speaker icon on the video controller.
How do I know if a YouTube video is being played in a Live Room?
If YouTube video is enabled in a Live Room, you will see a camera icon on the room profile card in the upper right-hand corner.
When I’m in a Live Room, how do I know where the YouTube video player is?
When a Tiered VIP Host begins playing a YouTube video in a Live Room, a pop-up will appear to indicate that a video is playing.
As a Participant or Viewer, how do I turn off the sound if I don’t want to listen to the YouTube video playing?
There is a speaker icon on the top left hand corner of your screen that you can turn off if you don’t want to listen.
As a Creator, can I create products that have YouTube playing capabilities?
Currently, you cannot create products that have YouTube playing capabilities, but our team is looking forward to adding this capability for Creators shortly.
As a Tiered VIP Host, can I turn on Voice and YouTube Video in my Live Room?
Yes, you can turn on both, but sound will be coming through from both of these features.
NOTE: The YouTube Video player is not compatible with iOS. If you are using a YouTube player in your room, iOS users may not be able to view it.
As a Tiered VIP Host, how do I turn off the sound of YouTube Video in my Live Room?
You can turn off the sound of YouTube Video in your Live Room by tapping the speaker icon on the top left-hand corner.
If you turn off the sound, however, you will be muting sound for both YouTube Video and Voice.
How do I flag an inappropriate video being played?
STEP 1. Tap on the dropdown menu on the upper-right corner of the screen.
STEP 2. Tap on the Report option. On the next screen, choose the appropriate report reason then tap Done.
STEP 3. Tap on Report again, then tap Submit on the next screen to confirm your report.
What happens if I put multiple YouTube furniture items in my Live Room?
If you begin playing a YouTube video in your Live Room, all furniture items with media streaming capabilities will begin playing the video.
