Wondering what is the difference between a Room and a Room Shell?
Room. It is one of IMVU’s features where users interact and chat with each other. This may be a Public Room, Private Room or Live Room.
Room Shells. It is a collection of rooms users have on their inventory, some are default rooms and some are purchased from Shop. Room Shells do not have furniture by default.
Here are the steps on how you can change your room’s shell:
STEP 1. Login to your account on IMVU Classic (IMVU Client) or go to IMVU Website. If you have trouble logging in, check out this article.

Note: You can now access your Shared Room and Our Room on IMVU Website under the “My Room" tab, but the option to change its room shell can only be done on IMVU Classic (IMVU Client).
STEP 2. On your Homepage, click on the “Our Room” tile if you want to change your Marriage Room’s shell or select the “Shared Room” tile if you want to change your Shared Room’s shell.
STEP 3. Your default room shell will show. At the bottom part of the screen, click on the Room (house) icon.
STEP 4. You will see all the available room shells in your inventory. Select your preferred room.
STEP 5. A confirmation pop-up will appear, click OK if you want to continue.
Note: Changing Room Shell means all the current furniture will be removed.
STEP 6. The new room shell will apply. You’re done!
