Gifting is an integral part of the IMVU experience, and now you can elevate it by gifting Credits and Upgrades directly from the Dollar Store on both the IMVU Website and Desktop. Explore the various avenues available to you for seamless gifting:
Ways to Gift from the Dollar Store
There are several ways to start gifting from the Dollar Store through the homepage and profile card.
Send a Gift Tile: Located conveniently on the homepage, this tile streamlines the gifting process.
Credit and Upgrades Tile: Another option on the homepage, making the gifting of Credits and Upgrades accessible.
Gifting Button: Found on every profile card, easily accessible through People Search, Friends list, or avatars within Chat rooms.
How to Gift from the Dollar Store
This section will include step-by-step instructions on how to complete gifting from the Dollar Store.
Send a Gift Tile
1. Click the Send a Gift tile.
2. Select Dollar Store.
3. Choose the items you wish to gift.
4. In the Shopping Cart, mark the box “Make it a gift” and search for the user you want to gift to.
Note: After the recipient is selected, items on the Dollar Store will show as “Active” or “Disabled” if the recipient already has the item or is restricted from receiving it.
5. Click Checkout to enter an optional custom message and then Next to proceed.
6. On the Cart Summary screen, choose your payment method then click Checkout to complete the transaction.
7. And you’re done! You will receive a purchase receipt for the transaction.
Credit and Upgrades Tile
1. Click the Credits and Upgrades tile.
2. Choose the items you wish to gift.

Gifting Button
The gifting button is available on everyone’s profile card. Profile cards can be accessed by clicking on a user image via People Search or your Friends list. You can also access the profile card from avatars within a Chat room by clicking on the user’s image icon.
1. Access the profile card, then click the gift box icon.
2. Select Dollar Store.
3. Choose the items you wish to gift.
Note: Once the first item is added to the cart, the recipient’s name will automatically be added. If you’d like to change the recipient, click the pencil to edit.
Items on the Dollar Store will show as “Active” or “Disabled” if the recipient already has the item or is restricted from receiving it.
5. Click Checkout to enter an optional custom message and then Next to proceed.
6. From the Cart Summary screen, choose your payment method then click Checkout to complete the transaction.
7. And you’re done! You will receive a purchase receipt for the transaction.
FAQs
If I purchase VIP for someone, will it be a recurring or one-time gift?
Depending on the payment method you choose, you will have the option to choose between a recurring or one-time gift.
If you opted for the recurring VIP gift but changed your mind, you and the recipient will have the option to cancel anytime from the settings here: https://www.imvu.com/next/settings/subscriptions/.
The subscription will say “Gifted to @(avatarname)”
Why are some items in the Dollar Store grayed out?
After the recipient is selected, items on the Dollar Store will show as “Active” or “Disabled” if the recipient already has the item or is restricted from receiving it.
I added an item to the cart, but when I added the recipient, it disappeared. Why is that?
This can happen if the recipient already has the item or is restricted from receiving it. If you look at the item in the Dollar Store, you will notice that it will be grayed out and will say “Active” or “Disabled.”
