Is anyone else seeing a drastic drop in sales over the last couple of months? I'm down by $1-200 a fortnight on what I used to earn. This is way more than usual fluctuations. I'm worried.

Thank you! Honestly, my only issue with the new desktop client as of now is this character text limit within chatrooms. If room owners could set that themselves to create functional roleplaying environments I'd immediately move to the new desktop client for social purposes. I'm still stuck to creating in classic, but that's because I don't particularly care for the setup of the new creator client.

I'd comment, but every time I do eventually it gets deleted for being, 'off topic.' Apparently on topic is only complaining - off topic is analyzing the cause. Oops, I think I commented. >.<

Honestly, I would give the new desktop client a chance in a heartbeat if SOMEONE in staff would hear me out and make the absolute minor, completely reasonable and simple change to allow room owners to set their OWN character text limit for chat messages within their own rooms. As it is the new client has a forced 250 character limit in chat rooms, which completely obliterates the RP community ON client. We've all had to move to discord to do our long-form, paragraph RP. Let us RP on the client again, let us set 2500+ character limits in chat in our own rooms so that we can longform RP again ON the client. My entire IMVU shop is dedicated to medieval and fantasy RPers - I can't be mad no one's buying my stuff, because no one can RP on the new client, so why should they. Such a small fix, and it would put 80% of my issues to bed immediately and go such a long way to reviving the RP community on IMVU - which would help greatly with my own sales and most of my friends who do medieval/fantasy content as well.

What I find mystifying is the apparent lack of concern from the company. From my vantage point, this ship looks like it's sinking. You would think there would be some show of concern and/or attempts to get profits up. The only changes I've seen this year is an increase in Vu spam and the 'chubby room' attempted fix they posted. Where's the lowering of actual prices to attract new subscribers? Where's the posting here that the company's upped its advertising budget? Where's anything other than deafening silence?

But that would make sense!

Shouldn't that tier metric fluctuate with IMVU's own sales volume? The bar shouldn't be that high when the client itself isn't drawing users/sales.

The old client was in beta for years, the first 5 of those were more nightmarish than Studio ever has been, studio is FAR superior to the old client! My personal issues with it are to do with the total lack of icon rendering on many products that I make not the core studio software.... its freaking brilliant.

I totally agree. That is the point I am trying to make. Nothing comes close at all!

Of course, people cheated. But it was still a lot of fun. People manipulate everything online. The idea was that the community as a whole got involved and that caused people to shop more and buy credits. Sadly, with these new imvu platforms all these things are hard to navigate. I love my client.

There are still a lot of community contests. They are not user voted, which I kind of miss, but I am sure users used vote manipulation in the past which kind of kills the fun. Every weekend there is contests with themes and ones in the community center as well. There is even spots for avi artists as well.

I agree. I have been shopping around for a new place as well. I don't care for SL. All that walking around makes me tired. Lol. But there are a few others I will be checking out. PM the link to the one you are at I would like to check it out.

@4u That is a shame. I know how hard you have worked over the years to build your shop and make some really cool stuff. I have derived from a few of your products. I am happy to hear you have found a new niche that benefits your talent.

@FemmeDraven I am like you. I log in only to say hi to friends really. I keep my vip account active merely to keep my shop alive. We have many talented devs here and I use my credits to support their shops. And of course, spoil my friends. Lol.

I did embrace Studio the DAY it came out and stopped working in the old and that sadly was my failing because after two years it's still incapable of rendering icons, attach a particle to the hand, and it will take a picture of the feet.. TWO YEARS AFTER RELEASE. I waited, and waited and waited, went broke, borrowed and then basically got tossed aside.... So now I'm working for another company, still here as a hobbyist.

I've basically quit and it's not really bothering me not to be here. I still pop in now and then to keep my account active because I have friends who haven't migrated elsewhere yet and I want to be able to visit them while classic is still around. Not renewing my VIP was the start and while it's been difficult not creating it's not as bad as I thought it would be. On to bigger and better things for me

IMVU could have chosen a different platform to build the new software on...something that would work on Firestorm like so many other virtual worlds have done. If their developers knew how to do more we'd have new software that's actually a good replacement for the Classic client but instead, they chose something that doesn't even come close to the same quality

There's no point encouraging people to use the client when it's going to be obsolete in the next few years. There's nothing that can be done about it - it's not IMVU's fault that Microsoft are withdrawing support for 32-bit software. IMVU have created their replacements and we will have to deal with them whether we like it or not. All we can do is use the new platforms and provide staff with feedback.

IMVU are actually doing a lot of the things you suggest. They have outfit contests every weekend and are currently running daily outfit challenges. They still run various community contests most months. And as far as I am aware badges are still very popular.

you know if they just use the client, it will be best for the community. they need to offer rewards for bettering your avatars. Give people a reason to spend money on credits. I remember how fun it was when I first started. there were community contests, beauty shows. themes to where you would all dress your avatar to get a certain look and the community could vote on who's fit looked best. And badges were something special. People would go onto creator web pages to collect all the badges. and you could have links to your latest products. Somewhere along the way these things got lost. Peer review is a nightmare. Bring back the fun!
