Is anyone else seeing a drastic drop in sales over the last couple of months? I'm down by $1-200 a fortnight on what I used to earn. This is way more than usual fluctuations. I'm worried.

@sea Yep, I'm still dropping. Today is particularly bad :( I'm now at half what I was making pre-pandemic.

IMVU Sales have been dropping for the Later part of 4 years now... Way Before The pandemic and inflation even hit.. Iam currently making what I was making in 2010 2011.. That is only 1/3rd the income I was making at the height of my sales. Iam not including times I was featured just regular earning months.. I keep spread sheets and oddly enough all accounts started to plummet in sales about he same time.. ATM Iam seeing a little uptick which Iam truly grateful for Iam hoping this upward swing keeps going.. I need to Eat.. LOL

Well, sales should pick up in september compared to august. They are droping down by between 30 and 50% depending on the days relatively to the last years. This is not good for sure. But there's pretty heavy reasons for that.. sanitary, economical and world stability. The lockdown has benefit IMVU and us all those last 2 years. Now, the inflation is rizing up because of the world unstability and the consequences of internationalisms and supply chains ruptures.

While in the 80s, CEOs were rising salaries faster than the inflation, actual CEOs are led by short terms money management reasons and international reasoning (we can replace competencies by cheaper ones abroad). They are often doing the opposite of what should be done. Badfully... This being said, an opposite move is happening and all the industries are now calling back home their supply chains to resist the unstabilities may they be because of sanitary reasons or possible military conflicts.

All this being said, it would make a good sens to avoid spreading the revenus to regular users and pull them back towards the ~2000 pro ceators within IMVU who might have to change their activity pretty soon if that doesn't happen and they can't pay their bills anymore.

5 months and still no evolution.. I sell, I sometimes find myself at the top of the catalog, (so it has nothing to do with the number of sales) but still 80% of my sales come from promo credits.. I am not very legitimate to complain myself here, because I think that there are other creators much more in danger than me... I am aware of it, but my monthly salary has been divided in two, if it continues to fall, after a while I should convert to another professional activity..

Imvu could ofc implement changes that benefit us. I cant speak for everyone regarding income but its been a struggle for a room developer since the changes. Our room meshers are the canaries in the mine and they are mostly dead. Weve seen a 90% decrease in sales and imvu have allowed and encouraged people to suffocate us with promos. I posted before in this thread that i can get one customer spending 100k promos in rooms in 10 minutes. Imvu though have changed it so clothing bundles cannot be brought with promos cause what are they, 3K? but room bundles go ahead its a dying unsupported category. IDK how many times ive asked that decoration tools be placed IN chat rooms so they can be used but it falls on deaf ears. A positive note though is this economic downfall only rly applies to IMVU in SL its not been an issue.

it really is so stupid because promo credits sound like they’ve been useless and unnecessary from the get go seeing as you can purchase anything in shop with promo credits. It might as well be just regular credits or imvu needs to implement a feature that allows creators at a certain tier to convert dev tokens to real credits because the amount of dev tokens I have is blasphemous

That's a possibility for sure @Polystyrene. I know I always had a budget for myself when it came to game spending and if people gave themselves a $20/month allowance for IMVU but decided to do the Diamond Tier when that became an option they'd be spending their entire allowance on VIP, so no more buying credits and they'd have to go back to getting credits like we all did when we first started which is doing surveys or whatever for promo credits. That $20 going to VIP used to be split between VIP and credit purchases if that was the case. There's also all the kids who believed the hype about earning vcoin through hosting/live rooms/whatever so those folks are probably not buying credits.

I wondered if people are spending their money on things other than credits. IMVU has introduced a few new paid functions over the last year.

Nope. When the lion's share of your sales are promo credits what's in it for the creator? Notariety? That doesn't pay the bills and I thank gawds I wasn't trying to make actual money here. I made more money in my 1st month reselling on eBay than I did in 10 years here. The term 'starving artist' was invented because of places like IMVU where creators aren't valued.

The promo argument doesn't cut it with me, I've always thought IMVU should hand "more" out. It's a site party based based on vanity, greed and envy, the more imvu can stir up those in the first month of an users experience here the more we all make long term. The more credits a user has the deeper they will dive into the catalogue, use site features and spend more time on the site. As a developer don't even look at promotional giveaways, they are a free promotion of your shop and better than a gift.. because the user wanted it.

Oh lol I couldn’t tell, always prepared for someone to defend IMVU somehow. but staff should read what I said anyway since that’s how they feel/act. @RigsK

I have some disagreements with this.. for one it most definitely has to do with management. Even before the pandemic people who peaked in sales or even were past their peak were not doing as bad as they are now. People being back at work and stuff doesn’t seem like a good factor into why sooo many people are doing this poorly. For two, things started slowly going downhill when Imvu messed with the tier system and started giving out promo credits like their life depends on it. So yes, it definitely has to do with management because everyone has made it very clear that all these promo credits take a huge part in the tanking of profit. And lastly, most people know IMVU has a habit of unfair and mistreatment to creators so for me personally, I’m not making any excuses for them. While economy can also play a factor, it most definitely is not the only issue at play. And I could go on and on but that’s a novel for another day lol
