Public Room owners have the ability to designate trusted friends as moderators (“mods”) of their rooms when they are not available. Designated moderators have the ability to remove (also known as “boot”) users from the room when they are misbehaving. All they have to do is right-click on the avatar to bring up their Avatar Menu and click the Safety icon. The boot option is at the top of the list.

Note that as of June 11, 2018, only the room owner's friends can be made into room moderators. This means that if you unfriend this person, he/she will be removed as a moderator of your room. Also, if you assign a room moderator who is not your friend, they will not be able to moderate the room.

To assign a moderator to your public room, follow the steps below:

On IMVU Classic

STEP 1: Access IMVU Classic. For instructions, click here.

STEP 2: Click on Chat Rooms from the main menu.

STEP 3: Click the Manage tab.

STEP 4: Under Manage My Chat Rooms, click the Edit button on the public room where you want to assign a moderator.

Note: Under the new look of the Chat Rooms tab, you may simply click on  My Rooms and hover your mouse on the room whose settings you wish to edit.

STEP 5: Under Room Moderators, enter the avatar name that you want to assign as the moderator of your public room, and then click Save. This person must be on your friends list (unfriending the avatar will remove the moderator privileges).

On IMVU Desktop and on the IMVU Website

STEP 1: Launch your IMVU Desktop and login to your account. Alternatively, you may also go to https://www.imvu.com/next/home/.

STEP 2:
At the top of the page, click on “Chat” and go to “My Rooms” tab.
