The IMVU Shared Room Feature

Most of us wanted to have that room we could decorate with a friend or family. This is possible with the IMVU Shared Room!

What can you do with Shared Room?

With Shared room, you can:

• Manage and decorate rooms together with a friend

• Set your Shared Room as a Public Room (this takes up one of your Public Room slots)

• Use any item (furniture, room, etc.) from both your inventories

• Receive an animated badge that you can display in your profile card

How to Purchase a Shared Room

STEP 1: Go to the Store and hover your mouse over the Credits and Upgrades tab at the upper part of your screen.

STEP 2: Select Shared Room and click on Add to Cart. (Alternatively, you can click on this link.)
 

STEP 3: At the right side, click on Checkout and choose your preferred payment option. Select Checkout again to process your order. 

How to Share a Room

STEP 1: After purchasing the Shared Room package, hover your mouse over the Upgrades tab on the top portion of your IMVU page, then click on Shared Room.

STEP 2: You will now see the following option on your screen:

STEP 3: After clicking Invite, you will be asked to type in the name of the avatar you would like to share your room with, together with an invitation message.

STEP 4: The invite will now show as pending. Wait for your friend to accept it. If someone invites you to share a room with them, you will see it under Rooms you have been invited to share with.

How to Manage a Shared Room

Once the invite is accepted, you will see the following screen:

To enter the specified Shared Room, click Go. This will launch your IMVU Classic. You may now decorate your room with your friend!

To stop sharing the room, click on Stop Sharing. Take note that this will revoke the entire Shared Room specified. This means that the Shared Room package will have to be purchased again. If the room was set as public, the room will be removed from the listings as well.

Note: If the shared room has been revoked or terminated, the room will close, and the decoration will change back to default.

How to access your Shared Room

On IMVU Classic

Make sure that you are updated to the latest classic version (495.4 or above). Go to www.imvu.com/download.php to download the most recent release. Launch your IMVU Classic, then click Shared Room

In case you have more than one shared ownership of a room, you will be asked which room you would like to join.

On the IMVU Website and IMVU Desktop

STEP 1. Login to IMVU Desktop or here: https://www.imvu.com/next/home/. On the Home page, click on My Rooms.

STEP 2. Find the Shared section (you can also use the Room Type filter on the left).

On IMVU Mobile

STEP 1. Tap the Chat icon at the bottom of the homescreen.

STEP 2. Select “My Rooms” and locate your “Shared” rooms.

How to Set your Shared Room as a Public Room

STEP 1: Log in to your IMVU Classic then click on Chat Rooms.

STEP 2: Click on the Manage tab.

STEP 3: Click on Create a Room.

STEP 4: Fill in the required fields, then choose Shared Room from the Select a Room section. If you have multiple Shared Rooms, you may choose a specific one through the dropdown menu.

STEP 5: Click Create a Room. Your shared room should now be public!
