Find a Room and Launch Room Deco

Launch IMVU Desktop or go to IMVU Website to start decorating your room.

Don’t have IMVU Desktop yet? Install it by going here

If you don’t own any rooms, you can buy one. Go to the Shop, Rooms & Furniture category, then select “Rooms”. Here you can shop for rooms in the same way you shop for clothing items. There are 1000s of rooms to choose from.

Once you’ve purchased a room, you will find it in the Chat section. Go to Chat, then My Rooms. From here, select one of your rooms, then click “Decorate” to launch Room Deco 2.0.

Basic Tools

Furniture Nodes
In Decorate Mode, rooms contain little hexagonal markers. These are furniture nodes or anchor points and are the initial positions for any item you add to a room.

Place Item
Select a node as your starting position, then find the item you’d like to add from your inventory panel. This will contain all the furniture items that you own. You can also search for an item in the search bar. Click on the item, and it will be placed on the node you’ve selected.

Edit Item
Clicking on an item will select the item, making it tinted slightly orange. While in Edit mode, you can edit its properties or move the item around your room.

Rotate
Rotate an item in all directions by using handles on each axis.

Offset
Offset an item away from its furniture node. You can finetune an item’s position to get it exactly where you want it.

Scale
Make an item as large or small as you like.

Reset
This allows you to reset an item back to its default state.

Drag & Drop
Add items by simply dragging them directly from your inventory and dropping them onto any furniture node.

Advanced Tools

Duplicate
Make a copy of an item with the same offset, rotation, and scale properties. The copy will be placed at the nearest furniture node.

Copy Properties
Set a copy of an item to have the same offset, rotate, and scale properties.

Replace
Replace an existing item with an item from your inventory, but keep the same offset, rotate, and scale properties.

Mannequins
The Add Mannequins tool shows where all the avatar seat nodes are located on a particular furniture item.

You can speed up, slow down, or pause all animations running in the room. This is important for more advanced furniture items, like if you wanted to place a seat node on a moving carousel.

Delete & Lock
Click on an item, click the Delete tool, and it’s gone. You can also lock items in a room so that they cannot accidentally be edited. Click the Lock tool again to unlock an item and make the manipulation tools available again.

Undo History
Easily reverse any or all edits you’ve made in a room. You can undo or redo all the way back to the beginning or end of a session thanks to an unlimited undo history.

Shortcut Keys
Click the help icon at the bottom of the toolset, and you can reference all the shortcut keys. The W, E, and R keys allow you to switch between offset, rotate, and scale. All functions have a shortcut key, so start experimenting and get to know them all.

Preview Mode
Click the preview button at the top right to preview all the avatar seat nodes available in the room and on furniture. Switch back to decorate mode by clicking the “hammer” tool.

Camera Tips
If you want the camera to center its focus on a furniture item or a furniture node, simply double click on it. If you left mouse-drag, the camera will rotate around that item. Use the scroll wheel to zoom in or out from the item. Then you can use the right mouse-drag to pan the camera.

Save and Join the Room

Each change you make is saved automatically, so you never need to worry about manually saving. Click on the right side menu to join your room and start inviting friends over to hang out!
