Hashtags are your key to connecting with like-minded friends who share your passions and interests. They're the perfect way to infuse your profile with personality, organizing it into categories that showcase what you're all about. By adding hashtags, you make your profile more expressive and increase your chances of being discovered by others who share your interests through search. Dive into your profile's "About" section to explore and add hashtags.

Add Hashtags From Your Profile

Make your profile a beacon of your interests and connect with like-minded users. There are two ways to access and edit your hashtags from your profile. You can either use the main profile edit option or navigate to the Hashtags edit/all section.

Edit Profile 

1. Tap the main "Edit" button on your profile.

2. Scroll down to “Edit Hashtag.”

3. In this section, choose from the recommended hashtags or create your own unique hashtags. 

Edit/All Hashtags 

1. Tap the "Edit" button next to the Hashtags under the About section.

2. Here, you can also select from recommended hashtags or create new ones. 

Note: If you haven't added any hashtags yet, you'll see "Edit"; otherwise, it will show "All" to access all your hashtags for editing.

Add New or Suggested Hashtags

To add new or suggested hashtags, follow these steps. 

1. Type your desired hashtag into the search bar.

2. Tap the plus (+) icon next to any hashtag you'd like to add.
   

3. After adding the hashtag, you will be prompted to categorize it.

And that’s it—you’re all set!

If you’re having trouble adding a particular hashtag, remember:

• Special characters and spaces will be ignored. 

• Hashtags can only be up to 25 characters long.

• You can only add up to 25 hashtags to your profile. 

• The same hashtag cannot be repeated in a single profile. 

• "IMVU-" or "IMVU_" are not allowed in hashtags. However, "IMVU" can be used within a word, such as "IMVUGreeter" or "IMVUModel."

Edit Your Hashtags

Managing your hashtags is simple with these easy steps for re-categorizing and removing them.

Re-categorize Hashtags

These steps will only work in the Edit Hashtags section.

1. Tap “All” next to Hashtags.

2. Tap “Edit” in the upper-right corner of the All Hashtags section. 

3. Long-press the hashtag you’d like to re-categorize. 

4. Tap on “Move to.”

5. Choose a new category from the list. If you’re unsure where it fits, “Misc” is a perfect catch-all category. 

Removing Hashtags 

An active hashtag will be highlighted in orange with a checkmark next to it. To remove a hashtag, just tap it again.

Note: There's no direct edit option for hashtags. If you want to change one, remove it and create a new version.

Discover and Add Hashtags from Users' Profiles

Find users with similar interests and effortlessly add their hashtags to your profile. Here's how:

1. From a user’s profile, tap on any hashtag or “All.”

2. Select the hashtag you’d like to add to your profile. 

3. Tap “Add Now.”

Note: To recategorize a hashtag added here, go to your profile and navigate to the All Hashtags section. Then, select "Edit" to make the necessary changes.

Find People Using Hashtags

Unlock new connections and discover like-minded people by finding users who share your interests and passions through hashtags. Here’s how you can use this feature to enhance your social experience. 

Find People Using Your Hashtags

1. Long-press on any hashtags from your profile. 

2. Tap on “Find people.”

3. Browse through the search results to find users who share your interests. 

4. Follow, message, or interact with these users to build new connections. 

Search Using Find People

1. Go to Find People.

2. Enter the desired hashtag in the search bar.

3. View the results under the "Names" and "Hashtags" tabs.

4. Select "Hashtags" to find users with that hashtag on their profiles.

5. Follow, message, or interact with these users to build new connections.

Hashtags in Chat

Now, when you and another user have the same hashtags on your profiles, a notification will appear in the chat box. This feature highlights your shared interests, making it easier to start conversations and form new connections. Explore this exciting addition and discover more ways to connect with others! 

Report an Inappropriate Hashtag

To report an inappropriate hashtag, follow these steps:

1. Go to the user's profile and tap on the three dots in the upper-right corner.

2. Select "Report Profile."

3. Choose "Inappropriate Hashtag" as the reason.

4. Tap "Report" and then "Submit."

Hashtags are like signposts that guide you to communities and conversations you're interested in. Use hashtags to connect with friends who share your interests and passions!

Why does it say I've reached my hashtag limit when I have fewer than 25 hashtags on my profile?

One or more of your hashtags may be considered inappropriate and removed from your profile. When this occurs, it can take some time before they no longer count toward your hashtag limit.
