IMVU Chat is a dynamic and immersive social space where you can meet new people, connect with friends, and explore an ever-growing world of chat rooms. Whether you're new to the platform or a longtime user, this guide will help you get the most out of IMVU Chat.

Chat Categories

IMVU Chat is organized into several categories to make it easy for you to find the perfect room to join.

Featured Rooms

This section highlights our most recommended rooms: 

• Welcome Rooms for new users to get started. 
• Chat Now Rooms (also known as IMVU Hangout) for our veteran users looking for a casual space to socialize. 
• Event Rooms hosted by IMVU.

Join Your Friends

Instantly see and join any public rooms where your friends are currently hanging out. A great way to stay connected in real-time. If the list is empty, start adding other users as friends to begin seeing them here!

Favorite Rooms

These are your go-to rooms! This section displays all rooms you've saved by clicking the heart icon. If the list is empty, start exploring and favorite rooms to see them here! You can explore the Featured Rooms or the Explore section to find new rooms to add.

From Your Favorite Hosts

Discover new rooms from all your favorite Hosts. If the list is empty, start exploring rooms to find hosts you love and see them here!

Recent Rooms

This section shows all the rooms you’ve recently visited. If this list is empty, start exploring rooms and your most recently viewed rooms will show up here. You’ll be redirected to the Explore page where you can browse available rooms.

Explore

Browse all public rooms on IMVU. This section displays the most popular and active rooms across the platform, including both Chat Rooms and Live Rooms.

Room Card Breakdown

Each chat room on IMVU has a dedicated room card providing a snapshot of everything you need to know about the room.

Room Card Includes: 

• Room Name
• Host Name
• Room Description
• Occupancy (Chat Room) - All users in the room
• Presenters (Live Rooms) - Select ‘All’ to see all Presenters and Viewers in the room
• Room Moderators
• Products Featured in the Room - Add them directly to your wishlist with just a click
• Other Rooms by the Host
• Upcoming Public Events by the Host

Room Card Actions:

• Favorite the room
• Invite Friends 
• Copy Room Link 
• Join the room

Room Search & Filters

Find exactly what you're looking for with advanced search filters tailored to your preferences.

Available Filters:

• IMVU+ Only rooms
• VIP Only rooms
• Voice (On / All / Off)
• Rating (GA / All / AP) - This option is only available for AP members
• Room Type (Chat / All / Live)
• Language (Multi-select supported)
• Scene Occupancy (Min to Max)
• Total Occupancy (Min to Max)

Filter Behavior:

• Filters only persist during your current search session.
• After selecting your desired filters, you must click “Show Results” to apply the filters. 
• Once you exit and return to the chat search, your filters will be reset to default (all off).

Where You Can Use Filters:

• Explore
• From Your Favorite Hosts
• Join Your Friends

Profile Settings: Room Visibility

Control who can see the room you're currently in with the Show Current Room setting. Choose from:

• Everywhere (Default): Your room status will be visible to everyone.
• Profile Only: Your room status will only be visible on your profile.
• Recommendations Only: Your room status will only be visible to friends through their “Join Your Friends” section. 
• None: Your room status will be completely private and shared with no one, not even friends. 

If your previous setting was hidden, it will default to "Recommendations Only."

Events

Events have a centralized and easy-to-navigate section that helps you stay organized and up-to-date. This section is split into two main categories: Hosting and Upcoming. 

Hosting

This section displays all events that you’ve created and are scheduled to host. If this list is empty, click “Add Event” to begin planning your next hosted event. 

Editing Your Hosted Rooms

This option is available directly on the room card in the “Upcoming” section. 

• To edit your events, click “Edit” next to the specific event. 
• To see all your upcoming hosted events, click “All” to expand the list. 
• Delete events on mobile by swiping left to reveal the trash can icon. 

Upcoming

This section shows a preview of events you’ve RSVP’d to, helping you keep track of what’s coming up. If this section is empty, click “Explore” to browse and RSVP to upcoming events. 

• Events will be sorted with the soonest events at the top. 
• To view your complete RSVP list, click “All” to expand the list. 
• The green dot with the word “Live” next to it indicates that the Event is active.
