This guide explains the supported devices and operating systems for IMVU Classic, IMVU Desktop, IMVU Studio, IMVU Mobile, and IMVU Web.

IMVU Classic

IMVU Classic (also called the IMVU Client) is the traditional desktop version of IMVU.

Windows

Minimum requirements:

• Windows 7 SP1 or later
• 1 GHz processor
• 512 MB RAM
• Intel GMA 950 graphics card or better
• 2 GB of available storage
• Consistent internet connection

IMVU Classic can run on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

Mac

Minimum requirements:

• 2 GB RAM
• Intel Core 2 Duo processor
• Intel GMA 950 graphics
• Consistent internet connection

IMVU Classic can run on older 32-bit and 64-bit Mac systems. macOS 10.14 Mojave is the last version of macOS that supports the 32-bit software required by IMVU Classic. IMVU Classic does not run on macOS 10.15 Catalina or later.

Using a newer Mac? If your Mac runs macOS Catalina (10.15) or later, you'll need to use another version of IMVU, such as IMVU Desktop or IMVU Web.

IMVU Desktop

IMVU Desktop is a newer desktop experience available for Windows and Mac.

Windows

Minimum requirements:

• Windows 7 SP1 or later
• 1.4 GHz processor
• 6 GB RAM
• Integrated graphics
• 5 GB of available storage
• Consistent internet connection

Recommended:

• Windows 10 or later
• 2.0 GHz processor
• 8 GB RAM
• Dedicated graphics with 2 GB VRAM or better
• 100 GB of available storage
• Internet connection faster than 100 Mbps
• 1920 × 1080 screen resolution

Mac

Minimum requirements:

• Intel Core i3 1.5 GHz processor
• 2 GB RAM
• 5 GB of available storage
• Integrated graphics
• Consistent internet connection

Recommended:

• Intel Core i5 2.0 GHz processor
• 8 GB RAM
• Dedicated graphics with 2 GB VRAM or better
• 100 GB of available storage
• Internet connection faster than 100 Mbps
• 1920 × 1080 screen resolution

IMVU Studio

IMVU Studio is the desktop application used for creating and working with IMVU content. IMVU Studio has similar minimum requirements to IMVU Desktop.

Windows

• Windows 7 SP1 or later
• 1.4 GHz processor
• 6 GB RAM
• Integrated graphics
• 5 GB of available storage
• Consistent internet connection

Mac

• Intel Core i3 1.5 GHz processor
• 2 GB RAM
• 5 GB of available storage
• Integrated graphics
• Consistent internet connection

Note: IMVU Studio requires a 64-bit operating system.

IMVU Mobile

IMVU Mobile is available on supported Android and iOS devices.

Android

IMVU supports Android devices that meet the current app requirements. For 3D rooms, your device needs to support OpenGL 3.0 or later.

Some Android tablets may be able to download the app, but tablets are not officially supported. If IMVU isn't available for your device through Google Play, your device may not be supported.

iPhone and iPad

IMVU supports compatible iPhone and iPad devices. Devices with an A8X processor or newer support HD 3D avatars by default.

Supported devices include many models from the following generations:

iPhone

• iPhone 6S and newer supported models
• iPhone SE (2nd generation) and newer
• iPhone 11, 12, 13, and 14 series
• Newer iPhone models

iPad

• iPad 5th generation and newer supported models
• iPad Air 2 and newer supported models
• iPad mini 4 and newer supported models
• Supported iPad Pro models
• Newer iPad models

Note: Device compatibility can change as new versions of iOS and the IMVU app are released.

IMVU Web

You can also use IMVU through a supported web browser.

Desktop browsers

IMVU Web supports current versions of:

• Google Chrome
• Microsoft Edge
• Firefox
• Safari on Mac

Mobile browsers

IMVU Web supports:

• Chrome on Android
• Safari on iPhone and iPad

For the best experience, keep your browser updated to the latest version.

Internet Explorer 11 is not supported.

Which Version Should I Use?

If you're not sure which version is right for your device:

Older Windows PC

→ Try IMVU Classic

Newer Windows PC

→ Try IMVU Desktop

Mac running macOS Mojave or earlier

→ IMVU Classic may be available

Mac running macOS Catalina or later

→ Use IMVU Desktop or IMVU Web

Phone or tablet

→ Use IMVU Mobile or IMVU Web

My Device Isn't Supported

If your device or operating system isn't listed above, it may not be compatible with IMVU.

If you're having trouble using IMVU on a supported device:

1. Make sure your operating system is up to date.
2. Make sure you're using the latest version of the IMVU app or desktop client.
3. If you're using IMVU on the web, update your browser.
4. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
5. Restart your device and try again.

If you're still having trouble, contact IMVU Support and provide the following information:

• Device model
• Operating system and version
• IMVU app or client you're using
• A description of the issue
• Any error message you're seeing
