Hello, Creators!

We know that as of late, there has been questions and confusion regarding MCG manipulation. What is acceptable? What crosses the line...etc.?

To help address this, we've created an initial Guidelines document that we hope will help.

Please give it a read and then provide us with any feedback/questions you have below - so that we may address them and continue to add to and update information that will guide your fabulous creations down the right path!

Thank you!

Aside from what I've said, search for @Parcel's comment in this discussion somewhere above/below. That's why.

Nothing in the quested text says IMVU is rated by the ESRB.

What is being said, yet again, is that IMVU follows the ESRB regulations, uses them to govern their own content (there are other reasons for doing so - see @Parcel 's reply), that if changes were to happen, Congress and the ESRB would need to change first.

Again, I really don't know what point you're trying to make, especially as the ChatGPT copy/paste confirms this point (with more words).

I was not an argument, more of a question. Why would they feel obligated to follow ESRB when they obviously don't have to.

Did you not write this?

"The ratings system is a corollary to the ESRB's ratings so a dropped neckline is *still* considered AP. You'd have to lobby congress change the regulations, which then allows the ESRB to change theirs, which then allows IMVU to change theirs!

IOW, IMVU isn't going to change anything that makes the liable from a policy point of view (whether people stick to those guidelines is another matter entirely!)"

Why this? "You'd have to lobby congress change the regulations, which then allows the ESRB to change theirs" If they are not tied legally to them?

As a former customer service lead let me add some necessary context. I feel knowing the why can often help with feelings of distrust and anger when these types of changes happen.

Adult content in the US and abroad for all sites requires certain licensing and is heavily regulated in MANY ways.

Credit card processors have certain regulations that must be met, lest they pull all credit processing from your site, esentially giving it a death blow as no more money may be exchanged.

On top of this, both apple and google have their own regulations on adult content and can and often do remove apps for not following strict guidelines.

Add to this PayPal, which they use for posting payments to creators, has its own regulations.

Combine this things like COSA etc being debated in the US, and some states like Texas trying to ban all X rated things from the internet period.

With all these things considered, IMVU has a very tight rope to be walk.

We also had a very public incident in the early part of the year with clearly manipulated MCGs making it to thr front pages in sales, exposing minors to NSFW content, which could have caused serous legal trouble for IMVU.

All things considered, and as a mesher, im proud of imvu for putting their foot down and really saying in no uncertain terms, whis is what we allow, fall in line or face the consequences.

I agree with Poly that this likely will not cause as many effects as people fear.

I will not be responding from here. I have other responsibilities to deal with, and im writing this on break from my irl job.

I do not expect you to agree with me, but understand rules are in place for a reason, like them or not.

Kept some lol. Now i am hoping there the right ones. XD Fingers crossed.

Regardless, it does not change my plan B. I'll try making a LC with bigger MCG without making the bottom of the bust look weird, but that is the total amount of effort im whiling to put into imvu right now. Until we get some answers on what will happen to us, I say "us" not because I feel targeted (well a little I mean people did send me the notice afterall lol) but yeah.. what will happen? Will you set everything as AP and we need to refund years of sales evendo we asked countless times if something is okay before posting or after posting... So what's up with that?

@AquarianPrincess This isn't a conversation about IMVU being rated by the ESRB, no where in my response was that said.

What IS being said is this (which ChatGPT confirms, ironically)... the existing ESRB regulations and guidelines are loosely held to by most online services (especially those in the USA) that, while they may not specifically use the ESRB ratings system itself, where they are not specifically subject to regulation, typically ensure their own internal ratings systems correspond to them - it's literally why IMVU has an GA/AP system, the 13 (PG equivalent) age barrier, that's all based on the ESRBs, literally. And this is doubly so where mobile and device apps are concerned, Apple/Google holding to a similar delineated ratings system.

So yes, the ESRB and their ratings systems are very much relevant to this conversation so I'm not sure what argument you're making.

Now that makes sense if it not broken then stop trying to fix it as creators we know the rules

@AquarianPrincess imvu is would have a license and it can be revoked if it doesnt meet special guidelines, this is because kids are on here.

This is why ga pelvic poses cant touch ect but then even ap items are just erotic, they sell it like a S'x chat to adults but it isn't all it is is mild titillation. People are then looking after purchasing ap what the hell did they just purchase and what for.

IMVU Want the best of both worlds.
